Election Petitions Tribunal In Umuahia, Disqualifies The Election Of Senate Chief Whip

The National and State Assembly election petitions tribunal sitting in Umuahia, Abia State , has disqualified the election of Senate Chief Whip Orji Kalu.

The National and State Assembly election petitions tribunal sitting in Umuahia, Abia State , has disqualified the election of Senate Chief Whip Orji Kalu.

The Independent National Electoral Commission as hereby ordered the conduct of a supplementary election within 90 days in eight wards in Arochukwu Local Government Area and several polling units in Ohafia and Isukwuato LGAs where votes were cancelled during senatorial election in Abia North senatorial district .

The three- man tribunal led by Justice Cornelius Akintayo ordered the supplementary election while giving judgment in a petition brought before it by the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the election, Mao Ohuabunwa , who had challenged the victory of the Senate Chief Whip , Orji Kalu, in the Senatorial election .

But the three- man tribunal led by Justice Cornelius Akintayo , in a unanimous judgment on Thursday, ruled that the petitioner had failed to prove his allegation of exclusion by INEC.The tribunal also held that Anaga did not have anything to prove that he was a candidate in the election and therefore had no locus standi to challenge the election .

Kalu was declared winner of the election by the returning officer, Doctor  Charles Anumudu , which Ohuabunwa described as “ excess electoral fraud and broad daylight robbery .”He , therefore, approached the tribunal to seek justice. Until the annulment , Kalu was the Senator representing Abia North at the National Assembly .

The tribunal also ordered a rerun election for the Abia North Senatorial District. Kalu was elected on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress and was inaugurated as federal lawmaker for the 9 th National Assembly.

The election tribunal therefore scolded the petitioner’ s lawyer for bringing the case to the court in the first place without ascertaining that his client was a candidate of AGA for the election .

Last Thursday, the tribunal had dismissed a petition brought before it by another individual — candidate of the All Grassroots Alliance, Anagha Anagha, challenging Kalu’s victory in the Abia North senatorial zone election. Anagha had challenged Kalu’s victory on the ground that he (Anagha) was excluded from contesting the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission .

President Jair Bolsonaro Undergoes Surgery For The Fourth Time

President of Brazil that went for surgery for the fourth time after being stabbed

The President of Brazil , President Jair  Bolsonaro underwent surgery for the fourth time after being stabbed in the stomach one year ago at political campaign rally.

Bolsonaro underwent surgery on Sunday to repair an abdominal hernia, his fourth operation since being stabbed in the stomach a year ago at a campaign rally, his doctors said.

The operation at Sao Paulo’s Vila Nova Star hospital lasted more than five hours, the medical center reported in a statement signed by his surgeon, Antonio Luiz Macedo.

Bolsonaro is expected to spend five days in hospital and should be able to travel by plane after a week, Macedo said.

Vice President Hamilton Mourao temporarily assumed the powers of the presidency on Sunday and will remain in office at least until Thursday, a presidential spokesman said.

Bolsonaro was stabbed on September 6, 2018 at a campaign rally in the state of Minas Gerais by a 41-year-old man, who was found to be delusional and psychologically unfit for trial.

The assailant, Adelio Bispo de Oliveira, is being held in the psychiatric unit of a maximum security prison

He said a significant part of Bolsonaro’s intestine had to be removed after it had become strongly attached to the abdominal wall. Doctors used a mesh implant to strengthen muscle tissue, Macedo added. He said about 10 percent of patients who undergo such abdominal surgery develop a hernia, but that while there was a chance of a new hernia, it was unlikely.

“The procedure was a success,” Macedo’s statement said, adding that the president was recovering and in stable condition.

Chandrayaan 2 Vikram Makes A First Soft Land On The South Pole Of The Moon

Picture of moon

The lander of Chandrayaan 2 Vikram lander was trying to make history by making India the first country to “soft land” on the South Pole of the moon. Scientists believe there could be water ice on the moon’s South Pole.

The Isro chief had said on Saturday that all hope was not lost and scientists are making all attempts to establish contact with the lander of Chandrayaan 2. The Vikram lander has a life span of one lunar day or 14 earth days.

In a statement, Isro had said 90 to 95% of the objectives of the Chandrayaan 2 mission have been achieved. “…will continue to contribute to Lunar science, notwithstanding the loss of communication with the Lander,” the statement added.
The lander of Chandrayaan 2 Vikram has been located on the surface of the moon, Indian Space Research Organization (Isro) chief K Sivan said on Sunday.

A successful landing would have meant India would have become the the fourth country after the US, the USSR and China to land on the moon.

“The orbiter has clicked a thermal image of lander. But there is no communication yet. We are trying to establish contact,” Sivan told news agency ANI. He insisted that it would be premature to say anything concrete right now. “It will be communicated soon.”

Scientists lost contact with the Vikram lander at 1.53am in the early hours of Saturday, less than two minutes before it was supposed to make a soft landing on the lunar surface. Isro chief Sivan had earlier hinted that the soft landing is usually a tense affair. He had said that the last 15 minutes of the mission where the lander tries to guide itself with the help of its own propulsion system were “15 minutes of terror”.

Chandrayaan 2 is an indigenously designed spacecraft. It comprised an orbiter, a lander and a rover. The rover, known as Pragyan, which translates to wisdom in Sanskrit, was expected to examine the surface of the moon.

The rover was meant to search for water in the lunar surface, and look into craters that could untangle key questions about the history of the solar system.

How to Reciprocate God’s Benevolence

Those who bless you will not rest

Experience has shown that people who receive kindness from God and man sometimes turn out to be terrible tyrants. Some people who were delivered from the jaws of death by God’s benevolence and mercy in the past have become takers of lives. Such people forget that as recipients of God’s mercy, much more is expected from them. They are like the wicked servant in today’s Bible reading, whose debt to his master was so great that the master knew there was no way he could pay it, and so forgave him out of compassion. In Matthew 18:28, the Lord describes what this servant did after he was released from prison, saying:

“But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellowservants, which owed him an hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest.”

As if that was not enough, this wicked and inconsiderate man put his fellow servant in jail until he got his money back. Some of us might cringe in horror at this awful attitude, but the question is, are we not doing the same thing against our fellow human beings, even in the household of faith? Many of us would have died if God were to repay us according to our sins, but thank God for His mercies. Are however showing the same level of mercy to those we have authority over or within our sphere of influence? Are we not seeking vengeance on those who have wronged us in one way or the other? The story of what the wicked servant did got to the master and, in annoyance, he revoked the pardon he had given the wicked servant, casting him back into prison. In Matthew 18:35, our Lord Jesus Christ concludes the story thus:

“So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.”

We became children of God when He forgave our sins. We should therefore not find it difficult to forgive those who offend us, knowing that if we had not been forgiven, we would have been in a sorry state. Having been relieved of our heavy load of sin through forgiveness, let us also forgive at all times. However, if you have not received forgiveness of your sins, it may be that you have not repented of them. Repent today, and you will receive the joy of being forgiven.

Matthew 18:23-35

23 Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take account of his servants.

24 And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, which owed him ten thousand talents.

25 But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made.

26 The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.

27 Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt.

28 But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellowservants, which owed him an hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest.

29 And his fellowservant fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.

30 And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the debt.

31 So when his fellowservants saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that was done.

32 Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me:

33 Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee?

34 And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him.

35 So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.

Father, please grant me grace to show and mercy to fellow human beings, especially at difficult times, and help me not to disappoint You in this regard.

1 Kings 8
Ezekiel 47:1-17

1.While passing thro' this world of sin,
and others your life shall view,
Be clean and pure without, within;
Let others see Jesus in you.

Let others see Jesus in you,
Let others see Jesus in you.
Keep telling the story, be faithful and true;
Let others see Jesus in you.

2. Your life's a book before their eyes,
They're reading it thro' and thro'
Say, does it point them to the skis,
Do others see Jesus in you?

3. Then live for Christ both day and night,
Be faithful, be brave and true,
and lead the lost to life and Christ.
Let others see Jesus in you.

Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.    Luke 7:47

God's Vessel Are Sanctified To Be Fellowship With Him

You are God's Vessel

You’re God’s vessel, sanctified to be in fellowship with Him through the Holy Spirit. Don’t jeopardize that communion because of a bad attitude or worldly lifestyle. 2 Corinthians 13:5 says, “Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves….” Use the Word to purge and examine yourself always. 2 Timothy 2:21 says, “If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.”

Do you want to continually experience the supernatural in your life? Then, keep yourself in the purity of the Spirit; don’t live the wrong life. Don’t get yourself entangled with the things of this world, for the Bible says, “No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life…” (2 Timothy 2:4).

And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth (John 17:19).

There are Christians who don’t have the reverential fear of God; they think they’re at liberty to live the way they choose. But that’s dangerous. There’s a way of life that’s not right for a Christian, and if you’re going to fulfil the purpose of God for your life, then you’ve got to have purity of heart; you must live according to your nature of righteousness and true holiness in Christ.

In Joshua 3:5, we read something striking that Joshua said to the children of Israel. He said, “…Sanctify yourselves: for to morrow the LORD will do wonders among you.” Joshua understood the power of sanctification; the power of separating yourself from the wrong things; the power of purifying your mind and your life.

You were separated from the World through the Gospel, but you’ve got to take the world out of you, through the sanctification of your mind and soul. This happens as you yield to the authority and lordship of the Word, and guidance of the Holy Spirit in your life. Hallelujah!

I’m sanctified, set apart, for God’s use. I’m continually transformed by the renewing of my mind, in the image of Christ. I stay on the path of purity, yielded to the Word, and the authority and guidance of the Holy Spirit, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:  2 Timothy 2:21-22 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, [and] prepared unto every good work. 22 Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

2 Corinthians 6:17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean [thing]; and I will receive you,

Romans 6:1-2 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? 2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

Biography : The Life History of Robert Mugabe

Robert Mugabe was born on 21 February 1924, in what was then Rhodesia. He was imprisoned for more than ten years without trial after criticising the government of Rhodesia in 1964.

In 1973, while still in prison, he was chosen as president of the Zimbabwe African National Union (Zanu), of which he was a founding member.

After criticising the government of Rhodesia in 1964 he was imprisoned for more than a decade without trial.

Mr Mugabe assumed the reputation of a "strongman" leader - all-powerful, ruling by threats and violence but with a strong base of support. An increasing number of critics labelled him a dictator.

The security forces kept Mr Mugabe and his party, Zanu-PF, in power - mostly through terror. But eventually even the army turned against him, and pushed him out.

Few nations have ever been so bound, so shackled, to one man. For decades, Mugabe was Zimbabwe: a ruthless, bitter, sometimes charming man - who helped ruin the land he loved.

In 2000, he seized land from white owners, and in 2008, used violent militias to silence his political opponents during an election. He famously declared that only God could remove him from office.

In 2017, amid concerns that he was grooming his wife Grace as his successor, the army - his long-time ally - turned against the president and forced him to step down.George Walden, one of the British negotiators at the Lancaster House Agreement in 1979 which ended white-minority rule, said Mr Mugabe was a "true monster".

Kenya's President Uhuru Kenyatta said Mr Mugabe had "played a major role in shaping the interests of the African continent" and was "a man of courage who was never afraid to fight for what he believed in even when it was not popular".

Veronica Madgen and her husband ran one of the largest farms in Zimbabwe before it was invaded by Mr Mugabe's supporters, forcing the family to come to the UK. She recalled: "The tractors [were] being burnt, the motorcycles [were] being burnt, stones [were being] thrown through the window… It was very difficult to actually come to terms with what was happening. In his later years, people called him all sorts of names, but now is probably the time when Zimbabweans will think back to his 37 years in power, she says.

Kenya will fly all its flags at half-mast this weekend in honour of Mr Mugabe, he said. The agreement "turned out rather well... and looked good for a while", but Mr Mugabe later became "a grossly corrupt, vicious dictator", he said. Zimbabwean Senator David Coltart, once labelled "an enemy of the state" by Mr Mugabe, said his legacy had been marred by his adherence to violence as a political tool.

Mr Mugabe was ousted from power in a military coup in November 2017, ending his three-decade reign. Mr Mugabe had been receiving treatment in a hospital in Singapore since April. He was ousted in a military coup in 2017 after 37 years in power.

The  former Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe died aged at 95. Robert Mugabe, was the Zimbabwe's first post-independence leader.

His successor, Emmerson Mnangagwa, expressed his "utmost sadness", calling Mr Mugabe "an icon of liberation". More so, the Zimbabwe's education secretary Fadzayi Mahere tweeted: "Rest In Peace, Robert Mugabe."

Mail Carrier Killed And 22 Injured Following A Shooting In Odessa

International news for today

A mail carrier was among the seven people between the age range of 15 and 57 killed on Saturday in which 22 others were also injured plus a toddler at a local car dealership following a shooting in Odessa, Texas, US. US Postal Service officials said in a statement Sunday that they were “shocked and saddened” by the events, but were “especially grieving the loss of our postal family member.”

Mail carrier Mary Granados was alone in her US Postal Service truck when she was shot and killed by a gunman who hijacked the white vehicle amid his frenzy of violence. Mary Granados, 29, was among seven people between the ages of 15 and 57 killed Saturday. Another 22 were injured including a toddler.

He’s not exactly clear, but it appears one shot hit the engine, another struck the driver’s side window and a third a rear window. Some shattered glass punctured his left shoulder, causing him to bleed a lot and go to a nearby hospital. He said he’s physically OK but bewildered by the experience. “This is my street instincts: When a car is approaching you and you see a gun of any type, just get down,” Munoz, who moved from San Diego about a year ago to work in oil country, according to report. “Luckily I got down. Sure enough, I hear the shots go off. He let off at least three shots on me.”

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said the 17-month-old girl is recovering but faces surgery on Monday to remove shrapnel from her right chest. She also suffered injuries to her face. Abbott says the mother texted: “Her mouth is pretty bad, but will heal and can be fixed. Thankfully it doesn’t seem like her jaw was hit. Just lips, teeth and tongue...We are thanking God for healing her and appreciate continued prayers.”

Daniel Munoz, 28, who also was injured, recalled the harrowing tale of coming into the path of the gunman, who was later killed by officers. Munoz was in his car on the way to meet a friend for a drink, when he yielded to a car coming off Interstate 20. He immediately noticed what he feared to be a barrel of a rifle in the hands of the driver.

“I’m just trying to turn the corner and I got shot — I’m getting shot at?” Munoz said. “What’s the world coming to? For real? I’m just over here minding my own business, getting my own gas.”
