How To Start And Maintain A Spiritual Fire

Fire for God

If you do a Google search on how to start a fire, you will find that the process is straight forward. First you need an ignition source to create the fire and some tinder to ignite. Tinder catches fire easily, but it goes out quickly, so you will soon need some kindling to keep the flame alive. To sustain a fire for a long time , you will need a steady supply of fuel and a fire pit that is dry and protected from elements that could extinguish it. Our relationship with God is like a fire. It is something to enjoy, and critical for life. Here are some basic instructions for how to start and maintain a spiritual fire;

  • Starting the Flame
The flame is our souls begin when you are saved, God Himself is the ignition source and we allow the fire to ignite when we confess Jesus as Lord by believing Jesus’ sacrifice for our Salvation. The moment we do that a flame a will go out. To keep it burning, it must be built up and fueled consistently. This is ‘stoking’ - adding fuel to fire to increase its size or strength. We stroke the fire started at salvation by building a stronger relationship with God. One way to do this is by  experiencing sanctification.

Like salvation, sanctification is an experience that happens in an instant. When we set our lives apart for God to use, He will cleanse us of the sinful nature we are born with, leaving us with a nature that is pure and holy like His. When we do this, our fire is growing. We stoke the fire more by experiencing the baptism or infilling of the Holy Ghost. When we are baptized, we are filled with His power which helps us effective witness for Him. Church attendance, regularly reading the word of God and seeking Him in prayer is a of great importance. These  are spiritual fuel.

  • Protecting the Fire
When sufficient fuel is provided,  there are forces that can cause the fire to go out. Natural elements like wind and rain can put out a blazing fire. Therefore, there must be barriers to counter these oppositions; challenges or attacks. God is with us and has promised to provide a way to withstand temptation (Read 1 Corinthians 10:13)

Our faith is also a barrier. Ephesians 6:16, tells us our faith is a shield that can quench all fiery darts of the the wicked. If we keep believing and trusting God the enemy's attack cannot harm us. Romans 10:17 says, faith comes by hearing the word of God. God's word can help in wilderness, when the enemy came to tempt Him. Therefore read the word of God regularly.

  • Spreading the Fire
In the natural, fire can spread. So also, being on fire for God can spread to others around us. When we witness to our relatives, acquaintances and strangers - anyone who listens, the result is that they would be saved, sanctified and baptized. Even Jeremiah found it difficult to preach the gospel after he was mocked, imprisoned and hated, but he found that God's message was a burning fire, shut up his bones and he could not stop ( Jeremiah 20:9)

  • Escape the Fire
The Bible tells us about different type of fire that we need to be aware of. For those who reject God's word , there is a lake of fire for them in the eternity. We are living in the last days and we must make sure we have God's fire burning, so it will take effort , but it is not a complicated to do. With God's help each of us can have a fire started and going till He calls us home. Shalom!

A 1-year-old Girl Slips From Her Grandfather’s Hands In Puerto Rico

A 1-year-old girl baby slipped from grand dad’s arms and fell from 11th floor of cruise ship in Puerto Rico, police reported. Puerto Rico Ports Authority spokesman José Carmona told the AP that the family was gathered in or near a dining hall on the 11th floor and that the grandfather sat the toddler on the edge of a window. He said officials are investigating whether the window was already opened or if someone had opened it.

The Authorities said the girl was travelling with her parents, two siblings and two sets of grandparents aboard the Freedom of the Seas, which docked in Puerto Rico on Sunday after a weeklong trip through the Caribbean.

Nelson Sotelo told The Associated Press that the family of the child will remain in the U.S. territory until the investigation is complete. He said officers have not been able to interview any relatives yet. “They’re in shock,” he said.

The death occurred Sunday afternoon at the Panamerican dock in the capital of San Juan. Sotelo said the toddler’s maternal grandfather, Salvatore Anello of Valparaiso, Indiana, is under investigation. He said the rest of the family is from Granger, Indiana.

The South Bend Police Department said in a statement that the girl was the daughter of Officer Alan Wiegand and asked “the community to pray for the entire Wiegand family as they grieve and to respect their privacy.”

The police chief of South Bend, Indiana, Scott Ruszkowski, disputed the statement issued by Puerto Rico police that the girl was being held out of a window in an interview with WSBT television. Royal Caribbean Cruises called it a tragic incident and said it was helping the family. A spokeswoman said the ship departed Puerto Rico on Monday for St. Maarten on a new itinerary and declined

For changing the globalizing world, the role of the teachers is essential to improve the sustainable education. At the same time, inspiring and guiding the pupils in increasing employability skills with the digital tools is the prerequisite for a teacher. 2.0 THE CHANGED ROLES OF TEACHERS IN THE 21ST CENTURY
  • Learner-centered classroom and personalized instruction
Pupils have different personalities, goals, and needs, and offering personalized instruction is not just possible but desirable. When pupils are allowed to make their own choices, they own their learning, increase intrinsic motivation, and put in more effort—an ideal recipe for better learning outcomes. As today’s pupils have access to authentic resources on the web, experts anywhere in the world, and peers learning the same subject somewhere else, teaching with textbooks is very 20th-century. Today’s pupils should develop their own driving questions, conduct their research, contact experts, and create final projects to share, all using devices already in their hands. All they need from their teacher is guidance. Today’s pupils have the latest and greatest tools, yet the usage in many cases barely goes beyond communicating with family and friends via chat, text, or calls. Even though pupils are now viewed as digital natives, many are far from producing any digital content. They own expensive devices with capabilities to produce blogs, infographics, books, how-to videos, and tutorials, just to name a few,
  • A Planner for 21st Century Careers
This is the most competitive world, and there has the diverse option to choose the next career for a pupil. In this case, a teacher needs to become a big planner to support them according to their psychology. The future of a pupil will depend on 4C’s (Critical thinking, Communication, Collaboration, and Creativity). It is the duty of a teacher to introduce  the mentioned terms very clearly. The pupils will need to try several multidisciplinary jobs. So the teachers will define where they will give more importance and which skills are just for adding value or keeping as optional. It will ensure better learning environments and the pupils will be engaged with the lesson. Don’t limit a child to your own learning, for he was born in another time.
  • A digital Instructor for Different Ways of Learning
Effective teachers don’t limit the learning resources for the pupils. Correspondingly, they are the best instructor for the pupils. In contrast, they will create the learning materials entertaining. In the digital age, you can find a lot of resources who are teaching the course efficiently. The instructor knows how to make the meaningful learning opportunities for all pupils. Providing practical examples in the classroom or collaborating in a class with another teacher can also help them to learn perfectly. To emphasize, they know mixing the knowledge with an expert collaborator can make the pupil motivated.
  • A Technology Lover for Learning
Now, it is so tough to attract the pupils without the use of technology. If you don’t teach the right use of technology and how to find the internet resources, they will get the evil resources. Important to realize, a teacher needs to learn how to read the psychology and what the pupils want. With attention to, if you can’t maintain the online community with the pupils, you will not be able to inform the pupils about the world. Indeed, there has no way of the teachers to deal with the pupils without learning the technology and internet world. As a result, when you want to build the nation, you have to develop yourself first.. Then again, they keep knowledge about which jobs will be available in the next decade. In addition, they learn the newest technology to help the pupils. To put it differently, they know how to combine the technology, pedagogy, and content which will ensure Real-World Problem Solving and cooperative learning.
SUGGESTIONS & RECOMMENDATIONS FOR 21ST CENTURY SCHOOLS
  • Upper primary classes (4-6) can make use of tablet phones programmed with educational  curriculum, subject notes, common entrance past examinations questions, skill acquisitions and other educational tools to pace up with demanding 21st century teaching development.
  • The school can introduce e-lesson note ( Electronic lesson note ) format to prepare note of lessons. This is part of 21st latest teaching development in which some schools have started usin since the beginning of this 21st century.
  • The school can introduce electronic examinations instead of the usual paper examinations mode. It can be in this format pre-primary to primary 3 can continue usual format due to age and handling, while primary 4-6 can partake in e-examinations.
  • Incorporation of technical and scientific clubs (i.e, computer club) , school boys scout, entrepreneurial clubs (i.e, tailoring) , Taekwondo and karate club in which the intrested pupils can join but on monetary basis to pay the experts trainners.
  • English studies should be broken into various aspects ( i.e Grammar, Comprehension, Literature) and each aspect being handled by specialist. Introduction of Dictation as subject especially for the lower basics.
  • School management can create school's Facebook page/groups, twitter page , or WhatsApp group to partake in the 21st century socialization.
CONCLUSION
Who will be the illiterate of the 21st century? The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn. So, as a nation builder, you may say your pupils are busy with the computer or mobile games or browsing the internet. Here you need to point out the resources on the web. It will increase the interest of the pupils. By all means, follow all the above rules if you want to become a self-award winner teacher in the 21st century. To summarize it all, a teacher needs to follow the quote from Henry Ford, "Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young. The greatest thing in life is to keep your mind young."

Do Not Stop Giving

According to Proverbs 3:27-28, we are to help anyone who is in need, just as Jesus taught in the parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:29-37). When I was in kindergarten, my teacher taught us a song which says “whosoever you have the power to help is your neighbor; so help him or her”.

Furthermore, this scripture teaches that we should not postpone the good deeds of today till tomorrow. Tomorrow might be too late! The story was told of a man who delayed to help his younger brother get the medical treatment he needed. When he later made up his mind to help, he took the money to the hospital, only to meet his brother’s lifeless body on the way to the mortuary! His help was late. In other words, giving is time-bound.

Esau is another example of someone who gave belatedly. By the time he brought his father the meal, needed to procure his blessing, someone else had carted the blessing away already. We must be quick to respond to calls to give, especially when it comes to projects that have to do with God’s kingdom. Another lesson we should learn from our Bible text is that for as long as you still have anything to give, you must not stop giving. God id telling us today to give, give and give again. The good thing about giving is that the giver can never lack something to give.

These days, many children of God do not pay attention to giving. For many, their experience with false prophets has made them averse to giving, while some are now tired of giving because they have been ignorantly sowing on infertile ground and have not reaped their expected harvest. Have you chosen not to give for one reason or the order? Whatever the reason may be, your experience does not change the validity of God’s word. If the word of God is not working for you, you must have gotten something wrong somewhere. Examine you past actions on giving and make appropriate adjustments where required. The question is, how much and how often should you give?

Proverbs 11:24 says: “There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty.” Beloved, give, give and give again, because you will be adequately rewarded.

ACTION POINT:
Reach out to missionaries in the fields, find out their needs and give what you can to help the spread of Christ’s gospel.
READ:
Proverbs 3:27-28
27 Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it.

28 Say not unto thy neighbour, Go, and come again, and to morrow I will give; when thou hast it by thee.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:

THE COURT THROWS OUT MR ADELEKE’S APPLICATION, AFFIRMS THE DECISION OF THE COURT OF APPEAL

The Supreme court threw out Mr Adeleke’s application and affirmed the decision of the Court of Appeal. The appellate court, which had also delivered its verdict in a split decision of four to one, ruled that the judge who issued the majority decision at the tribunal, Peter Obiora, was absent on February 6, 2019, when a major discussion on the issue of none-compliance was tabled before the tribunal; and could therefore not have viewed the issue squarely.

Recall that the Supreme Court is set to give a final ruling on who, between two candidates, was duly elected governor of Osun State last year. A seven-member panel of the court, led by Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria Ibrahim Tanko, slated Friday for judgement on the matter after entertaining arguments from parties on June 17.The PDP candidate in the September 22 and 27 elections, Ademola Adeleke, filed a petition at the Election Petition Tribunal to challenge the victory of the governor-elect, Gboyega Oyetola, of the APC.

The main election was held on September 22 while a supplementary election was held on September 27 in seven polling units. The electoral commission, INEC, declared Mr Oyetola winner of the election after the supplementary poll. Mr Adeleke, who claimed he polled the highest number of votes in the election, asked the tribunal to cancel the victory of Mr Oyetola and declare him the winner of the election.

The Osun tribunal ruled in Mr Adeleke’s favour and declared him the winner of the election. In a split judgment of two to one, the tribunal ruled that INEC was wrong to have ordered a rerun election. It nullified the rerun. The court also ruled that INEC did not comply with its guidelines on results from 17 polling units. The tribunal then deducted the results of both parties from the declared total of votes in the affected 17 poling units.

According to the tribunal, the PDP won the election with 254,698 votes, while the APC came second with 253,452 votes. The tribunal also said that the PDP would still have won the poll even if it had opted to validate the supplementary election. But in a contrary opinion in May, the Court of Appeal ruled that “the tribunal was in patent error when it set aside the rerun.”

Apparently dissatisfied, Mr Adeleke approached the Supreme Court which will now rule today. At 9:12- A four member panel of judges just entered the court room, leading to the resumption of the day’s ruling. The panel is led by Justice Bode Rhodes-Vivor. The lawyers began noting their appearances in court at 9:18 with a senior advocate, N. O. Oke appearing for the PDP. Abiodun Olaide and Biodun Layemi appeared for the respondents, Mr Oyetola and the APC. Rhodes-Vivour is reading the judgement.

He observed that justice Peter Obiora did not sign a record to indicate that he was present at the tribunal on February 6. The court said its decision is that Justice Obiora did not sit on February 6. It is now reading a list of authorities to show the consequences of Mr Obiora failing to sit on February sit at the tribunal.

“A complaint that one of the judges did not sit and proceded to deliver judgement is a serious matte,” he said. “Failure of Obiora J to sit of February 6 rendered the proceedings of that day a nullity and the entire judgement a nullity. It is a fundamental error” “The absence of Obiora J to sit on that day made it impossible for the tribunal to render any judgement in the matter”,

The court ruled. Mr Rhodes-Vivour added that five members of the panel agreed with the judgement while two others disagreed with it. Consequently the court threw out Mr Adeleke’s application and affirmed the decision of the Court of Appeal.

Acting DHS Inspector General Takes Measure to Alleviate Overcrowding in Rio Grande Valley

Acting DHS Inspector General Jennifer Costello urged the department, which overseas border enforcement, to “take immediate steps to alleviate dangerous overcrowding and prolonged detention of children and adults in the Rio Grande Valley.” The report included images taken at several Texas sites, showing dozens of migrants including young children packed shoulder to shoulder into cage-like holding areas or cells.

In this regard, President Donald Trump has brushed off reports of overcrowding and squalid conditions in migrant detention centers Wednesday by saying the migrants can opt “not to come” to the United States. “If Illegal Immigrants are unhappy with the conditions in the quickly built or refitted detentions centers, just tell them not to come. All problems solved!” Trump tweeted.

The comment came one day after a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) report warned of “dangerous overcrowding” in the facilities, which hold thousands of migrants seeking to remain in the country, most of them fleeing violence and poverty in their Central American homes. And it follows Democratic lawmakers who also visited detention facilities reporting massive crowding in cells with no running water, children and adults lacking access to needed medicines and deprived of showers for up to two weeks. The reports raised pressure on the Trump administration to shut the facilities and release the migrants.

On Tuesday, the DHS inspector general released its latest in a series of reports on facilities and camps for the hundreds of thousands of migrants who have crossed the border from Mexico in recent months, most of them in families.

Costello said one detention facility manager described the situation as a “ticking time bomb” and raised security concerns for agency staff and detainees.Children at three of the five Border Patrol facilities had no access to showers and few spare clothes, while two facilities had not provided hot meals, only sandwiches. Most single adults had not had a shower in a month and were being given wet wipes. Some detainees were suffering from constipation after a diet consisting only of bologna sandwiches.

Conclusively, President Donald Trump said, “Migrants can opt ‘not to come’ if they dislike squalid camps. ” The comment came one day after a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) report warned of “dangerous overcrowding” in the facilities, which hold thousands of migrants seeking to remain in the country, most of them fleeing violence and poverty in their Central American homes.
