It Does not Mtter

It is not until I win

We can learn some lessons from the story of Joseph’s elevation. First, the Lord caused Pharaoh to recognize the gift of the Holy Spirit in Joseph. Considering the fact that Egypt was a headquarters of astrologers and magicians, Pharaoh could have doubted the accuracy or authenticity of the interpretation and counsel that Joseph gave, if not for God’s hand.

Secondly, if age was a factor, Joseph would not have been entrusted with such great responsibilities. In fact, for Pharaoh to have handed over his people and entire realm to a total stranger, it means Joseph found uncommon love and favor in his sight. On that remarkable day, he woke up as a slave boy and went to bed as the prime minister of Egypt. All this was made possible because of the God-factor. Beloved, the Lord is telling you to stop considering your background as a hindrance to your forward and upward movement in life. He will grant you a pleasant surprise this season, and those looking down on you will begin to look up to you, as it happened for Joseph in Jesus’ Name.

The LORD maketh poor, and maketh rich: he bringeth low, and lifteth up. He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the LORD's, and he hath set the world upon them. 1 Samuel 2:7-8

From this scripture, we see that no one attains the position of leadership without God having a hand in it. It then follows that irrespective of your background, when God decides to promote or enthrone you, nothing can stop your divine elevation. in this regard, Esther’s case readily comes to mind. A slave girl like her could only become a first lady through divine elevation. We also see this demonstrated in Joseph’s life: an imprisoned slave boy rose to become the second in command to a world emperor.

To appreciate what God did in Joseph’s life, we must consider the factors that stood against him. Not only was he a foreigner, he was a slave and a prisoner who had a case of attempted rape hanging round his neck. Only God could have brought about the fulfilment of his long-time dreams in a strange land. I prophesy to you today: regardless of your family, educational or socio-economic background, you will reach your goal in Jesus’ Name.

MEMORISE:
Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Romans 13:1

READ:
Genesis 41:38-44
38 And Pharaoh said unto his servants, Can we find such a one as this is, a man in whom the Spirit of God is?

39 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Forasmuch as God hath shewed thee all this, there is none so discreet and wise as thou art:

40 Thou shalt be over my house, and according unto thy word shall all my people be ruled: only in the throne will I be greater than thou.

41 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, See, I have set thee over all the land of Egypt.

42 And Pharaoh took off his ring from his hand, and put it upon Joseph's hand, and arrayed him in vestures of fine linen, and put a gold chain about his neck;

43 And he made him to ride in the second chariot which he had; and they cried before him, Bow the knee: and he made him ruler over all the land of Egypt.

44 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I am Pharaoh, and without thee shall no man lift up his hand or foot in all the land of Egypt.

PRAY POINT
Father, I believe Your word today; I declare that my background will not work against my greatness in life in Jesus’ Name.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR
Deuteronomy 13-15
Ezekiel 10:20-11:13

HYMN
MY HOPE IS BUILT ON NOTHING LESS

My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus’ name.

Refrain
On Christ the solid rock I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand.
On Christ the solid rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand.

When darkness seems to veil His face,
I rest on His unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale
My anchor holds within the veil.

His oath His covenant and blood
Support me in the ‘whelming flood:
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my hope and stay.

When the last trumpet’s voice shall sound,
O may I then in him be found.
Clothed in his righteousness alone,
Faultless to stand before his throne.

Rate Of Rainforest Destruction Stables During Bolsonaro's Presidency

News pictures

The rate of rainforest destruction had been stable during the first few months of Bolsonaro's presidency but began to soar in May and June, according to Brazil's National Institute of Space Research (INPE), a government agency whose satellites also monitor the Amazon.

769.1 square kilometers were lost last month - a stark increase from the 488.4 sq km lost in June 2018, INPE's data showed. That equates to an area of rainforest larger than one and a half soccer fields being destroyed every minute of every day.

However, more than two-thirds of the Amazon are located in Brazil and environmental groups blame far-right leader Bolsonaro and his government for the increase, saying he has relaxed controls on deforestation in the country.

Consequently, the Amazon deforestation accelerated more than 60% in June over the same period last year, in what environmentalists say is a sign that the policies of President Jair Bolsonaro are starting to take effect.

During Bolsonaro's election campaign, he promised his government would focus on recovering the Brazilian economy and said he would look at ways of exploring the Amazon's economic potential. He took office in January.

SAFEGUARDING AND CHILD PROTECTION IN SCHOOLS

Safeguarding and Child Protection in School

Child protection refers to the prevention of and response to abuse, neglect, exploitation and violence against children.
PROBLEMS CHILDREN ENCOUNTER.
  1. CHILD LABOUR: Due to economic reasons, children are forced to work in order to survive. This often happens in difficult condition.
  2. CHILD ABUSE: This is the failure to act by a parent or other caregiver that result in actual or potential harm to a child. It can be physical, sexual, psychological abuse and can occur in a child’s home, school or communities the child interacts with.

SIGNS OF PHYSICAL ABUSE.
  1. Bruises or other injuries that does not match the child’s story.
  2. Medical or dental issues that go untreated.
  3. Wearing clothing that doesn’t match the weather such as long sleeves on hot days to cover up bruises.
  4. Afraid to go home.
  5. Withdrawing from friends and activities.

SIGNS OF SEXUAL ABUSE.
  1. Avoiding a certain person for no clear reason.
  2. Blooding, torn or stained underwear.
  3. Pain or itching around the genital that might cause problems walking or sitting.
  4. Sexual activity or knowledge that people usually have only when they are older.
  5. Running away from home.
SIGNS OF EMOTIONAL /PSYCHOLOGICAL ABUSE.
  1. Speech problems or delay in learning.
  2. Depression and low self esteem.
  3. Doing poorly in school.
  4. Headaches and stomachaches with no clear cause.
  1. NEGLECT: failure to take adequate measures to safeguard a child from harm and gross negligence in providing for a child basic need. If a child is physically and  sexually abuse then there is an abusive person responsible for the assault and a negligent person responsible for failing to protect the child from the assault.

HOW SCHOOL CAN PROTECT CHILDREN FROM ABUSE AND HARM.
Schools play an essential role in protecting children from abuse. They have regular contact with children and young people so they are in a strong position to identify signs of abuse and neglect.
School can safeguard children by:
  1. Creating safe and transparent physical environment:- children visible in classrooms and around schools.
  2. Making sure staff  are trained, knowing how to respond to concerns and up keep of the children.
  3. Teaching children and young people about staying safe, especially adolescent girls.
  4. Maintaining an environment where children feel confident to approach any member of staff if they have worry or problem.
  5. Ensuring that adult who work in the school don’t pose a risk to children.
  6. Designating and training staff who will be responsible for dealing with child protection.
  7. Establish and enforce policy of zero tolerance rules: bullying and exclusion of pupils in the classroom.
ROLES OF TEACHER IN CHILD PROTECTION.
  1. Teachers should be able to indentify pupils who are suffering or at risk of harm and take suitable action.
  2. School staff  should listen to and work closely with parents to make sure the child feel safe and protected in the school environment.
  3. Teachers should not ignore or neglect any child physical, medical, or emotional needs.
  4. If a teacher suspects that a child is being abuse he or she should report to the person/teacher responsible for child protection.
  5. Pupils should be taught moral lessons time to time.
Conclusively, building a protective net around children is the responsibility of all members of the society whether directly charged with the care of children or not.

How Your Speech Controls Your Life

When things are rough and tough, you’re not to wait to be lifted; you have a lifting power; it’s in your mouth. With your mouth, you catapult yourself from obscurity to greatness! You lift yourself from the thraldom of inflation, austerity and lack to abundance. It’s about what you say! Declare that you’re supremely blessed, prosperous and walking in financial abundance, and your life will gravitate in that direction.

For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body (James 3:2) .

Christian perfection or maturity is expressed chiefly in your mouth—your communication. If you want to go in the right direction in life, your tongue is the compass. If you offend in words, that is, if your communication is unwholesome, your life will be in jeopardy. Your speech controls you.

Proverbs 18:21 says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue….” Jesus said, “…out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh” (Matthew 12:34). So, through your thoughts, your character is formed, but it’s expressed in your talk, in your words. Meaning, your thinking is your character; but your “talking” is your life. That’s how important your words are.

Romans 10:10 says, “…with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” It’s a principle. God said to Joshua, “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night…” (Joshua 1:8).

Meditate on the Word of God; keep it in your mouth. That means keep affirming the Word. No matter what’s happening around you, speak the Word. The Bible says, “When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up…” (Job 22:29). Again, the emphasis is on what you say.

What is it that you want? It’s all in your mouth. Say it, and you’ll have it! That’s what Jesus said in Mark 11:23: “For verily I say unto you…whosoever shall say…and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.” Blessed be God!

CONFESSION
My speech is modelled in line with God’s thoughts and direction for my life. I declare that prosperity, victory, success, growth and financial abundance are the hallmarks of my life. Amen!

[4] Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth. [5] Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! [6] And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.

Donald Trump's Visits North Korean Soil

President Donald Trump’s entry onto North Korean soil is a dramatic re-enactment of the extraordinary scene last year when the young leader invited South Korean President Moon Jae-in to walk over the Military Demarcation Line that divides the Koreas. In a symbolic diplomatic spectacle and a first for any American president. After shaking hands with Kim over the line that marks where their two countries and their allies fought each other to a standstill in the 1950-53 Korean War, Trump walked for several steps into North Korean territory, before another handshake.

The two men then walked into Seoul’s territory together -- pausing on the line for photographers -- where they were joined by South Korean President Moon Jae-in. “It’s a great day for the world and it’s an honour for me to be here,” Trump said. “A lot of great things are happening.” The impromptu meeting in the DMZ -- which came after Trump issued an invitation on Twitter on Saturday -- comes with negotiations between Pyongyang and Washington over the North’s nuclear arsenal at a deadlock.

The two would “just shake hands quickly and say hello because we haven’t seen each other since Vietnam”, Trump said earlier. Their first summit took place in a blaze of publicity in Singapore last year but produced a vaguely-worded pledge about denuclearisation, and a second meeting in Vietnam in February intended to put flesh on those bones broke up without agreement.

In an unusually fast and public response, within hours of Trump’s tweet the North’s official KCNA news agency quoted Vice Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui as saying the offer was “a very interesting suggestion”.
Trump’s entry onto North Korean soil is a dramatic re-enactment of the extraordinary scene last year when the young leader invited South Korean President Moon Jae-in to walk over the Military Demarcation Line that divides the Koreas.

Moon -- who seized on last year’s Winter Olympics to broker the process between Pyongyang and Washington, after tensions soared in 2017 amid missile and nuclear tests and mutual insults -- will be going to the DMZ with Trump. “The leaders of the US and the North will have a handshake for peace at Panmunjom, the symbol of division, for the first time,” Moon said, referring to the “truce village” in the DMZ.

‘Barren no-man’s land’ But analysts were divided over the headline-grabbing meeting’s potential impact on the underlying issues. The four-kilometre-wide (2.5 miles) DMZ, running for 250 kilometres, is where the front line lay when the Korean War ended with a ceasefire rather than a peace treaty, and is described as the world’s last Cold War frontier.

John Delury of Yonsei University in Seoul said an encounter in the “barren no man’s land that embodies the unhealed wound of post-WWII division, the Korean War, and 70 years of animosity” would help improve ties.“It’s not just about denuclearisation and it’s not all about a deal -- important as those are,” he said. “If Trump and Kim meet & can announce some kind of interim agreement, that’s great. If they meet and don’t, that’s ok too. If in the end they don’t meet, it’s good that Trump offered to.” But Joshua Pollack of the Middlebury Institute of International Studies cast doubt on what it could achieve. The Hanoi meeting foundered amid disagreements on what the North -- which has carried out six nuclear tests and developed missiles capable of reaching the entire US mainland -- would be willing to give up in exchange for relief from sanctions that have crippled its economy.

“An agenda-free, made-for-TV encounter won’t undo a year of inflated expectations and disappointment,” said Pollack. What was needed, he added, was “something more than a one-page letter and another handshake”. The DMZ has been a regular stop for US presidents visiting the South, a security ally -- although Trump’s helicopter was forced to turn back by fog in 2017 -- while Panmunjom saw the first two summits between Moon and Kim last year.

The contact between the two sides has since been minimal -- with Pyongyang issuing frequent criticisms of the US position -- but the two leaders have exchanged a series of letters and Trump turned to Twitter on Saturday to issue his offer. “If Chairman Kim of North Korea sees this, I would meet him at the Border/DMZ just to shake his hand and say Hello(?)!,” he wrote from from Osaka in Japan, where he was attending a G20 summit before flying to Seoul.

GOD SPEAKS TO YOU IN SPIRIT LANGUAGE

Language is created with sound for your intellect. But God isn’t a mind, neither does He appeal to your mind. He doesn’t need your reasoning faculties to communicate with you. As a result, He doesn’t need to put His message in a language for your intellect.

Oftentimes, when we say God spoke to us, there’re those who wonder, “What language does He speak?” They want to know how they too can hear God. God is a Spirit, and He speaks to your spirit. What you have to learn is to listen to Him with your heart—your spirit.

Being born again, and having received the Holy Spirit, you’re one with the Lord. He’s come to dwell within you and has mingled with your spirit. The Bible says, “But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit” (1 Corinthians 6:17). Thus, His voice in your spirit will be unmistakable. All you have to do is listen from within. He knows every language. He can talk to you in any language.

The most important thing about God speaking to you isn’t the language He spoke; it’s whether your spirit received the words. He speaks to you in “spirit language,” because He talks to your spirit. Your mind is what relates with language.

When He speaks to you in any human language, if you don’t receive the message from your spirit, it may have no impact or meaning. It has to get to your spirit. If you only got the words in your mind, you may even forget what He said, but your spirit can remember.

Moreover, when God speaks to you, your spirit will at once light up and bear witness that He’s the One talking to you. It’s like what Jesus said in our opening verse, “My sheep hear my voice….”

Train your spirit to be a sure-guide and a dependable receptacle of God’s words and signals. Activate your spirit by speaking in tongues frequently. Also, it’s very important that you learn the Word of God, because He never says anything outside His Word. Praise God!

BIBLE TEXT: My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me (John 10:27)

PRAYER
Dear Father, I thank you for the ability to hear and recognise your voice. As you speak to me from the Word and counsel me from within, I respond to your guidance, promptings, and instructions, and receive the corresponding blessings, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Teaching Techniques Through The Human Intelligence Of Child Developmental Psychology

Teaching Techniques Through The Human Intelligence Of Child Developmental Psychology

Intelligence is the ability to use past experience for the solution of present and future problems. It is the ability to observe relationship or difference between objects, people and situations, and the ability to correctly apply past experience under new situation. Intelligence is the development of mental ability and cognition. The ability of an individual to use intelligence in solving problems manifests in three major ways.

First is the power to discover new ideas, events or objects which are related to one another. Second is the ability to bring to mind other ideas which are relevant to the purpose which an individual is trying to achieve. Third is the ability to critically evaluate the outcome of thinking and also to judge whether the individual has done what he intended to do satisfactorily and if not, to know where he has failed.

Factors Influencing Intelligence
There is a wide range of differences in intellectual capacity from one individual to another which are commonly know as heredity and environment respectively.
{1}HEREDITY:- All things being equal, the intelligence Quotient of a child is expected to be the average of both his father's and mother's in the light of this, an individual is endowed with certain level of intelligence by mere chance of parental combination.
{2}ENVIRONMENT:- When heredity determines the upper limit of intellectual capacity, the extent to which an individual can reach the maximum level is a function of environmental factors, while the several studies indicate that a lot of people operate below their intellectual potentialities due to poor environmental conditions which temper with either intellectual growth or the opportunities for intellectual behavior.
Factors that can be categorized under either heredity or environment include the following:
{1}HEALTH CONDITION:-It has been proved that any parent can produce a mentally retarded child even though noon of the parents is mentally deficient. A child that is seriously affected by certain infections such as German measles, whether before or after birth, may have his intelligence tempered with. Also the unhealthy child may not the needed zeal that possess enable him to pursue desirable success in mental activities. Physical defects such as retarded or incomplete maturation of brain cells may result to subnormal intelligence. Conditions like glandular malfunctions, enlarged adenoids and tonsils also affect mental activity.
{2}SEX:-It is commonly observed that males on the average demonstrate better intelligence than their female counterparts especially in the real abstract areas of learning such as mathematics and physical science. Male are presumed to perform better in mechanical operations while females are observed to excel in language development and literature. These differences between sexes can be traced to environmental conditions, in the homes where deferent values are ascribed to sexes.
{3}SOCIO-ECONOMIC CONDITION
{4}EMOTIONAL CONDITION
{5}EXPERIENCE IN LIFE

Aspects Of Individual Differences
Differences among the individuals occur in many areas of life.
1• Physical differences:-Individuals differ in body structure and complexion while some are tall, others may be short. Some people are fat, but others are thin. When some people are physically well built, some other people suffer defects like deafness, dumbness, blindness and so forth. People are commonly described as light, dark or fair in complexion.
2• Sex differences:- People are either males or females under normal circumstances. However, the sex of an individual may determine a lot of other issues in life. For example boys are often taller than girls. Boys also surpass girls in mechanical aptitudes while girls show language superiority over their male counterparts. Girls are observed to read faster and better than boys. To some extent, the sex of an individual determines the type of activities considered for him or her as appropriate. Sex also influences the individual's social activities, moral codes and the general style of life.
3• Age differences:- People are not born at the same time, hence they are to have different experiences and capacities to face life challenges.
4• Psychological differences:- Some individual are introverts while others are described as either extroverts or ambiverts. Some individual lack self confidence and are socially withdrawn, whereas other are sociable. In term of behavior, while some people can be described as normal, others are seen as abnormal or unstable.
5• Intellectual differences:- Each child has his unique ability to learn and reason. No two children manifest equal intellectual abilities in all aspects of learning. While some students are very brilliant and academically upright, some children operate at the average level and others are academically backward. For instance a student who is very good in certain areas of learning may not be so good in other subject areas.

The intelligence Quotient of a child is measured by intelligence tests which evaluate the degree or relationship between mental ability and chronological age. The formula is as follows:
                  Mental age........................100
                I.Q = Chronological age  X 1

Mental Age: This is the age level into which an individual falls considering his performance in intelligence tests.
Intelligence Tests: These are different from performance tests in which opportunities strongly influence performance. Thus, Intelligence Test may appear very simple in outlook, but they require the display of deep reading to perform well.

Chronological Age: This is the age of an individual as indicated by his birth date. For example a child that was born in June 1990 must be ten years in June 2000. Thus ten years was his chronological age in June 2000.
From the foregoing explanation, one can see that there is a difference between chronological age and mental age for a particular individual. For example the result of an intelligence test may place a child at twelve years of mental age whereas his chronological age is ten years. Thus by simple interpretation, this child is more intelligence than his age. By calculation, his Intelligence Quotient is as follows:

  Mental age..................=12 years
          Chronological age   = 10 years
             I.Q = 12...x 100
                      10 1
                       = 120

Based on this type of calculation, different levels of Intelligence Quotient can be clarified and interpreted as follows:
            I.Q Levels Interpretations
          I.Q Level............ Interpretation

          140 and above....Genius (Gifted)
          120-130........Superior
          110-119........Above average
          90-109..........Average
          80-90.............Weak
          70-79............Borderline
          60-69............Moron
          40-59............Imbecile
          Bellow 40.....Idiot

6• difference in Special Aptitudes: Different people excel in different areas such as soccer, swimming, fishing, farming, engineering etc. Some people can conveniently combine more than one area whereas others can not.

Implications of Individual Differences for Teaching and Learning
1• Teacher education programmes should equip the teacher trainees for the challenges of individual differences among the learners and the teachers themselves should be prepared to face the inevitable challenges
2• In other to deal with the various categories of students, teachers should endeavor to vary methods of teaching and classroom management strategies. Teachers should realize that no particular method is appropriate for all teaching learning situations.
3• Adequate provisions should be made for special education, special classes or comprehensive education with a view to caring for different categories of learners.
4• Instructional materials should be applied in accordance with the needs of the various categories of learners.
5• Both indoor and outdoor activities should consider the abilities of learners and no student should be compelled to engage in learning activities with which he can cope.
6• The sitting arrangement in the classroom should be made with consideration for variation in height, visual ability and learning condition of students.
7• Teachers should avoid passing derogatory comments about students weaknesses, especially those that cannot be easily altered.
