The visitors offered precious little going forward in the first half and it was no surprise Napoli led at the break, with Piotr Zielinski's stunning 16th-minute strike putting them in front.

UEFA Investigators Want Manchester City To Be Banned From The Champions League For A Season

The UEFA (Union of European Football Associations ) investigators want Manchester City to be banned from the Champions League for a season if they are found guilty of breaking Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules.

Chief investigator Yves Leterme has made his recommendation but it is not known if he supports a ban.

City said "the accusation of financial irregularities remains entirely false".

Former Belgian prime minister Leterme, chairman of the investigatory panel of Uefa's independent financial control board (CFCB IC), his team looked at evidence first uncovered in a series of leaks published by German newspaper Der Spiegel last year.

The reports alleged that City broke FFP regulations by inflating the value of a multimillion-pound sponsorship deal. City were fined £49m in 2014 for a previous breach of regulations.

Uefa said Leterme, "after having consulted with the other members of the independent investigatory chamber", decided "to refer Manchester City FC to the CFCB adjudicatory chamber following the conclusion of his investigation".
In their reactions Manchester City say they are "disappointed, but regrettably not surprised" after being referred to Uefa's financial control body adjudicatory chamber.

French League Plans to Stop Homophobic Abuse

The French league has started planning for the way of stopping homophobic abuse. The plan unveiled on Monday by Ligue 1 president Nathalie Boy de la Tour. He said  abusive fans should be worried.

In the this regard, starting next season, in cooperation with the International League against Racism and anti-Semitism (LICRA) and a group fighting violence and discrimination against LGBT people, the French league will distribute forms allowing spectators to report the sexist, homophobic, or racist incident they witness.

More so, the French league previously struggled to identify the perpetrators of homophobic chants, but with its new process, sanctions are expected to kick in. Often heard at French league matches, homophobic chants have been tolerated for a long time by many club officials, and football authorities have struggled to find appropriate ways of tackling the issue.

"The LICRA will be able to start the appropriate judicial procedures," Boy de la Tour said. "And it will also give a basis to work with to our disciplinary commission."

Zidane is Keen To Sell Gareth Bale In Summer

The latest decision to leave out Gareth Bale comes following a report by AS that claimed Zinedine Zidane is keen to sell the former Tottenham star in the summer. Bale, the 29-year-old was absent from the 19-man squad list for Madrid's penultimate game of the Liga season away to Real Sociedad, with Bale having also been left out of the 3-2 win over Villarreal last time out.

Barnett has now expressed his disappointment that his client hasn't featured more regularly in recent weeks, but that he hopes he is able to continue at Madrid. Ultimately, though, he accepts the decision will be Zidane's to make. He said: "It's a shame Bale is not playing.

"Should he be playing more after being left out of the last two squad lists? I can only hope that he keeps playing for Real Madrid. But that's up to Mr. Zidane. "Zidane makes the decision. Is this [Bale being dropped] a message ahead of the next transfer market? You'd have to ask the coach." Bale is contracted to Madrid until 2022 and has scored 14 goals in all competitions for Los Blancos this season.

However, many of the headlines at Real Madrid in recent weeks have regarded matters off the pitch rather than on it, and that was again the case in Zinedine Zidane's latest press conference. Speaking ahead of the match against Real Sociedad, Zidane was questioned about statements from Gareth Bale's agent about his future.

"No, I don't want to answer, I'm the coach of Real Madrid and he does his job," the Frenchman insisted. "I have to think about the game, playing well, that's what worries me." Journalists continued to press the coach on a conversation reported to have taken place between Zidane and Bale this week regarding his future.

"I won't tell you anything about it, private conversations are private," he said defiantly. "It's what I have to do with all of the players, but it stays internal. "Did I talk to him? Maybe no or maybe yes; with the players I talk about other things, not just the future." Bale's departure would surely lead to more money in the transfer kitty in the summer, and Zidane couldn't hide his hopes for the months ahead.

Pep Guardiola Demands More From Manchester United in 2019-20 Season

Pep Guardiola is demanding more from Manchester City squad in 2019-2020 football season. "Next season we will be stronger, I am sure. We will be stronger. We will be better," he said.

Guardiola explained in sport news conference that this season we understand what we want to do quicker [compared to last season]. We don't change too much our patterns, our way we want to play, so that is why everyone is more comfortable in what we want to do, in how we want to defend.

Guardiola further said, "I think we attack much better. Teams when they face us that have a low, low block, an incredible low block, that means 11 playing in the box, so how we attack them, we concede not too many counter-attacks, the set-pieces we defend well."

Conversely, Manchester City are on course to become the first Premier League side to retain the title since 2008-09, as they sit on 95 points, one clear of Liverpool heading into the final round of matches.

However, the defending champions travel to Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday, while Liverpool host Wolves, and victory for the Carabao Cup winners will keep alive their hopes of a domestic treble – a feat never before achieved by an English side.

An all-Engish Champions League Final on June 1

DAILY sport

According to semifinal results it means an all-English final against fellow comeback kings Liverpool in Madrid on June 1 for Mauricio Pochettino's never-say-die team. Tottenham snatch a 3-2 win at Ajax and a place in the Champions League final on away goals. Consequently, Barcelona's dreams of a treble are in tatters after their hopes of reaching the Champions League final went up in smoke once again after they were stunned 4-0 by Liverpool at Anfield. As such, the club suffered their heaviest ever defeat at the hands of an English opponent in all European competitions.

Barcelona became the first team to be on the receiving end of multiple Champions League knockout tie exits after holding a three-plus goal lead from the first leg, having been eliminated by Roma last season in similar circumstances. It was only the fourth time any team has overturned such a deficit to reach the next stage of the competition.

The result means that they have now been eliminated at the penultimate stage in three of their last four Champions League semi-final ties. Save for the 2014-15 campaign, where they beat Bayern Munich to reach the final and subsequently down Juventus, Barca have failed to progress beyond the final four on their last trio of visits to this stage.

Lucas Moura's incredible second-half hat-trick saw Tottenham snatch a 3-2 win at Ajax and a place in the Champions League final on away goals. As in last week's semi-final first leg, Erik ten Hag's side were smoothly into their work by the time inspirational captain Matthijs de Ligt headed a fifth-minute opener.

Hakim Ziyech made it 2-0  ten minutes before half-time but, in a season now steeped in implausible Champions League comebacks, Lucas' brace had the game all-square on the night before the hour. Ziyech hit the post and Spurs defender Jan Vertonghen struck the crossbar before the irrepressible Lucas steered home Dele Alli's pass deep into stoppage time.

Manchester United Have Not Won Premier League Since 2012

Manchester United have not won the Premier League since Alex Ferguson's final campaign in 2012 to 2013 as the Manchester club languish in sixth position this term, 29 points adrift of leaders Liverpool heading into their remaining two matches.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was permanently appointed manager in March, having impressed during his interim spell following Jose Mourinho's December sacking, but United have only won two of their past 10 games in all competitions.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said Manchester United face a battle to finish in the Premier League's top six next season, let alone challenge for the title, though the Red Devils manager is confident he will be granted time to lead the club back to the summit.

"I have regular meetings with Ed [Woodward, the executive vice‑chairman], I've seen Joel [Glazer, the co-chairman] and the [other] owners: they are very realistic on where we are and what we want to get to and how long that will take," Solskjaer said.

"You don't suddenly catch 27 points in one season, you've got to take it gradually. It's not just this season but the last five or six – we know where we are more or less at and it's not good enough. Hopefully we can produce better performances and they [City and Liverpool] can produce worse and we'll get closer." But Solskjaer doesn't see his club pushing for a title next campaign.

Montpellier Defeats Paris Saint-German in Coupe de France in Ligue 1 Final

Montpellier defeated Paris Saint-German in Coupe de France in Ligue 1 final with three goals to two. Interestingly, Presnel Kimpembe socered own goal in the 21st minute for PSG likewise, Ambroise Oyongo scored own goal for Montpellier in the first 12th minute.

Angel Di Maria had looked like securing just a second win in six games across all competitions for the Ligue 1 champions but, after missing a number of golden opportunities, Andy Delort showed superb composure in the 80th minute to draw Montpellier level.

Thomas Tuchel's side threw away a two-goal lead to ultimately lose on penalties to Rennes on Saturday and never looked like returning to winning ways in a display characterised by woeful defending and scant attacking threat.

Ambroise Oyongo's own goal put them ahead after 12 minutes but Presnel Kimpembe – who endured a torrid game – put through his own net at the other end in the 21st minute to draw the hosts level.

Substitute Souleymane Camara then took advantage of a Leandro Paredes error to fire past Gianluigi Buffon five minutes from time to secure a famous win.

John O'Shea Announces Retirement From International Football

The 38 years old John O'Shea the Irishman who graduated from Manchester United in the year 1999 has announced his intention to quit international football at the end of 2019 session.

John O'Shea is a former Manchester United defender.

Further more, in an open letter when John O'Shea announced his retirement from international football in May last year, O'Shea paid tribute to Sir Alex Ferguson, who was recovering from a brain haemorrhage at the time.

He gained cult-hero status at Old Trafford, where he stayed until 2011, winning the Champions League, five Premier League titles, one FA Cup and two FIFA Club World Cups, while he made a total of 393 appearances for the club.

"I would like to acknowledge the support I have always received from Sunderland and, prior to that, Manchester United, in particular, Sir Alex Ferguson," the defender wrote.

"I've never taken anything in life for granted and the passing in the last year of my dad, Jim, and my friend and team-mate Liam Miller has shown me that every moment in life (not just football) should be cherished."

Manchester Utd Conceded 17 Goals In Solskjaer’s 17 Games

The wheels have fallen off spectacularly from  Manchester United’s recovery in recent weeks, with the team having now conceded 17 goals in Solskjaer’s 17 games in charge and 46 in total in the league.

Manchester Unitetd crashed out of the FA Cup to Wolves in March, before a footballing lesson from Barcelona saw them dumped out of Europe on the end of a 4-0 aggregate defeat.

Consequently, United have conceded more goals this season than in any previous Premier League campaign as their travails under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer continue to worsen.

Goals from Richarlison and Gylfi Sigurdsson in the first half at Goodison Park gave Everton a 2-0 lead at the break, leaving United with a mountain to climb if they are reel in the sides above them in the race for the Champions League.

That run has seen them go 11 matches without a clean sheet for the first time since November and December 1998, with Solskjaer himself playing a part in eight of those matches.

It still represents an improvement on performances under predecessor Jose Mourinho. United let in 29 goals in 17 games before the Portuguese was sacked on December 17 with the club languishing in midtable in the Premier League.

Spurs Vs Ajax and Liverpool vs Barcelona Champions League Semifinal

Spurs will now take on Ajax in the semifinal while Liverpool have been pitted against Barcelona. In the other Champions League quarter-final, Liverpool coasted past FC Porto 4-1 to register a 6-1 aggregate win.

Sadio Mane, Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino and Virgil Van Dijk were all on target for Klopp's side while Eder scored Porto's consolation.
Consequently, Manchester City saw their quadruple dreams come crashing down after going down to Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League quarter-finals.

However, City needed to overhaul a 1-0 loss from the first leg but could only win 4-3 after an intense match which saw a flurry of goals at the start. However, the 4-4 aggregate score meant Spurs qualified on away goals rule.

In the competitive match, Raheem Sterling had given Spurs an early lead (4') but two goals from Heung-Min Son (7', 10') put Spurs in a commanding position. However, goals from Sterling (21') and Sergio Aguero (59') seemed to have handed City the initiative, only for Fernando Llorente to score the winner in the 73rd minute.

There was drama late on as Sterling found the back of the net in the 93rd minute but after a VAR check, the goal was disallowed and Spurs held on for a famous victory.

Spurs Marked Their First Competitive Game At Their New Stadium On Wednesday With A 2-0 Win Over Crystal Palace

Spurs marked their first competitive game at their new stadium on Wednesday with a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace to boost their prospects of finishing in the Premier League’s top four.

However, the Mauricio Pochettino’s side have a further four league fixtures at home as they battle with Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United for Champions League qualification.

In this regard Eden Hazard has commented on their new stadium - "I think Tottenham, for two or three years, have been one of the best teams in England. That is for sure," Hazard said at Stamford Bridge after beating Brighton.

"We are Chelsea, and it is a big derby. I don’t like that to be fair, but we have to accept it. For the Premier League it is good – a new stadium, they have top players.

"But, at the end, at Chelsea, we won a lot of trophies, they have not, so I hope this continues. I think that I like that because people are not talking about Chelsea for the top four. We are quiet, fifth, sixth and then we can be ready for the game."
