Manchester City Went Past 100 Goals For The Season

With Danilo’s first-half strike during their 3-0 victory over lowly Huddersfield Town on Sunday, they’ve become the first side in Europe to hit the 100 goal threshold across all competitions this campaign.

Caretaker boss Mark Hudson stepped in after Wagner's departure this week and oversaw a battling display, albeit from a team 10 points from safety at the foot of the table.
Pep Guardiola’s side have been helped to that milestone by some extraordinary form in 2019 so far, with a seven-goal FA Cup rout of Rotherham and a nine-goal demolition of Burton Albion in the Carabao Cup helping them to leapfrog their continental rivals.

Danilo's deflected long-range effort brought up that landmark, achieved across all competitions, after 18 minutes but Pep Guardiola's side were some way from their fluent best during the first half.

Raheem Sterling headed home the crucial second early in the 54th minute before fellow winger Leroy Sane got in on the act, puncturing a buoyant Huddersfield crowd that came to celebrate David Wagner's tenure.
More so, counting the three scored in their previous Premier League victory over Wolves and their efforts at the John Smith’s Stadium this weekend, with Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane both getting in on the action, they’ve now notched up 22 successful efforts in four games.

However, Manchester City might not be top of the Premier League this season, but that hasn’t stopped them from finding the back of the net with impressive frequency.

Surprisingly, Manchester City went past 100 goals for the season and closed back to within four points of Premier League leaders Liverpool with a 3-0 win at Huddersfield Town.

Reports state that Paul Scholes , the former Manchester United midfielder is the front-runner to take over from interim manager Pete Wild, and attended Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Macclesfield.

Paul Scholes has held talks with Oldham about becoming their new manager, 15 months after missing out on the job.

He is a boyhood Oldham fan and was also interviewed by the club for the manager's job in October 2017 - when he missed out to Richie Wellens.

Scholes is one of four candidates who the club have spoken to about the job.

Jose Mourinho Has Also Been Linked With A Return To The Santiago Bernabeu

Christian 24 Sport
Jose Mourinho, recently sacked by Manchester United in December, has also been linked with a return to the Santiago Bernabeu, while they are also interested in luring Tottenham's Mauricio Pochettino to the Spanish capital.

But ex-West Germany international Schuster, who spent two years at the club as a player and returned for a brief spell as coach, believes World Cup winner Low would be an excellent appointment.

"I spoke with president Florentino Perez at an honorary event and I explicitly mentioned Low," he told Die Welt.

"[Perez] looked at me oddly, as if I had surprised him.

"Germans are very highly regarded at Real. After all, we have done a good job there, I would not be surprised if the Real tried to hire Low next summer."

Although the Champions League holders only recently hired current boss Santiago Solari on a contract that runs until 2021, there have been reports they are looking for a bigger name to replace him in the summer.

Norwegian Sets New Record for Man United With Six Straight Wins

With six straight wins in the Premier League he has now overtaken the late Sir Matt Busby, who won his first five First Division matches upon taking over at the club in 1945.

The Red Devils went on to win their next five games since that auspicious debut, a run that includes victory in the FA Cup third round over Reading and which clinched Solskjaer the distinction of overseeing the most successful start ever from a United manager .

Now, thanks to Saturday's 2-1 win over Brighton , the former striker also holds that record in the league.

The Norwegian has been a breath of fresh air around Old Trafford since taking over from Jose Mourinho in December, revitalising a team that had been short of confidence and consistency.

Having starred at United as a player, he received a stunning welcome back to the club in his first match with a 5-1 win over Cardiff.

Manchester United interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has set a new club record in the Premier League as his perfect start to life on the bench continues.

Alvaro Morata Wants To Return To Madrid

Alvaro Morata wants to return to Madrid, but the deal hinges on whether Chelsea can bring in a replacement. It is understood Chelsea are increasingly confident they will sign Gonzalo Higuain on loan with an option to buy.

The Spain international was not even on the substitutes' bench for Chelsea's 2-1 win over Newcastle on Saturday and was pictured in Madrid on Monday.

He has been linked with a Stamford Bridge exit after losing his place as Chelsea's first-choice striker, with Sarri preferring to utilise Eden Hazard as his main point of reference in attack.

Moreso, Atletico Madrid are in advanced talks to sign Chelsea striker Morata, according to reports.

Chelsea would prefer a permanent deal, with the club eager to recoup as much of their investment back as possible, having signed Morata for a club-record £70m from Real Madrid less than two years ago. They value him at £45m.

Chelsea Goes For Gonzalo Higuain

Gonzalo Higuain has been on loan at AC Milan from Juventus since the start of the season, with an option to buy at the end of the season. Chelsea head coach Maurizio Sarri is understood to be keen on bringing Higuain to Stamford Bridge, despite concerns from the club's board.

Chelsea's chief-executive Marina Granovskaia remains unconvinced Higuain is the answer to the club's striker problems.

Higuain came off the bench for the final 20 minutes of AC Milan's 1-0 Super Cup defeat to Juventus in Saudi Arabia.

However, Chelsea have agreed a deal with Juventus to sign Higuain on loan until the end of the season, according to reports in Italy.

It is understood the loan could then be extended for another 12 months subject to certain conditions.

Man United Wants to Loan McTominay

McTominay has won five caps for Scotland, including three appearances for his country this season.

In contrary, Solskjaer has preferred a midfield of Paul Pogba, Ander Herrera and Nemanja Matic in his last few games, including Sunday's win over Tottenham at Wembley.

Manchester United are considering whether to loan out Scott McTominay with interest from clubs in England and Scotland, as per reports.

The 22-year-old midfielder has struggled for game time this season under both Jose Mourinho and current caretaker boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

He has made only three starts in the Premier League and four substitute appearances, plus one start in the FA Cup.

Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba Were Absent From Training

Nemanja Matic  missed from training after his wife gave birth earlier in the week. Alexis Sanchez missed the victory over Spurs with a minor issue, but the forward was in action at the Aon Training Complex on Wednesday morning.

Chris Smalling has yet to return from a foot injury, while Marcos Rojo is also undergoing rehab.

Paul Pogba was also absent from Manchester United training on Wednesday, following reports his girlfriend has given birth this week.

Pogba's form has improved since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer returned to the club as caretaker manager and he produced another impressive display on his return from a leg injury as United beat Tottenham on Sunday.

But the 25-year-old was not part of United's session at Carrington on Wednesday, ahead of Saturday's game against Brighton.

Mouriho Non-disclosure Agreement

Jose Mourinho will not be able to lift the lid on his Manchester United sacking when he returns to work as a pundit this week because of a non-disclosure agreement in his severance deal, a source close to the club has reportedly said.

Mourinho is the third manager sacked by United in the last five years after dismissing David Moyes in 2014 and Louis van Gaal in 2016. Both received pay-offs which included a non-disclosure agreements normal procedure in situations such as these  after the early termination of their contracts. Mourinho is set to wait until the summer before returning to management.

Mourinho is set to make his first public appearance since his dismissal from Old Trafford when he returns to work as a Bein Sports analyst for Thursday's Asian Cup group match between Qatar and Saudi Arabia and the Premier League clash between Arsenal and former club Chelsea on Saturday.

Finally Mouriho, will not be allowed to discuss the circumstances surrounding his departure from United after being gagged by the club as part of his £18 million pay-off.

Yaya Toure Moves To Celtic

Reports have linked Yaya Toure with a move to Celtic, who are tied with Rangers atop the Scottish Premiership in points, where his brother Kolo is an assistant under Rodgers.

Fro a reliable source,  Toure admitted there is interest from the Scottish club, but will require further discussions with the manager before any agreement is reached.

“Celtic are a great team, but I will speak to Brendan Rodgers there and we will see what happens,” Toure said.
He  has confirmed interest from Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic, though he says he must speak with Brendan Rodgers before any decision is made.

The midfielder completed an eight-year spell with Manchester City last summer, leaving the club at the end of the season.

Toure won three Premier League titles, three League Cups, an FA Cup and a Community Shield as a player on the blue side of Manchester.

His next stop was a short one, as Toure rejoined Olympiakos, the team he had spent the 2005-06 season with. Despite only signing in September, Toure’s contract was terminated three months later via mutual consent.

Pele, Mbappe Comparisons

Like Pele, Kylian  Mbappe is a teenage World Cup winner and already has a clutch of domestic titles to his name. As a result the 78-year-old says comparisons between himself and the young forward are not unwarranted.

"He won the World Cup at nineteen, I was only seventeen,” Pele said. “I teased him saying he had almost equalized.

“I think he can become the new Pele! Many people think I said that to laugh, but no, it's not a joke."

Three-time World Cup winner Pele has backed Paris Saint-Germain striker Mbappe to match his glittering career achievements.

Pele is widely considered to be one of the game’s greatest ever players having burst onto the scene as a 17-year-old at the 1968 World Cup, helping Brazil win the tournament for the first time.

Such sustained success still seems a long distance away for Mbappe who, at just 20, is still in the very infancy of his career. However, there are already some similarities with his achievements so far and Pele’s early career.

Guardiola Said City Do Not Currently Have The Finance To Buy A Replacement.

Fernandinho will be 34 by the end of the season Guardiola said City do not currently have the finance to buy a replacement. Manchester City are at home to Wolves on Monday evening with the champions unlikely to strengthen in defensive midfield despite Guardiola’s wish to add a second specialist in the position

When put to him that Neves might be the type required Guardiola said: “He’s an excellent player but there are many clubs in the world, many holding midfielders in the world, and most of them can play here. That’s not the point.

“Most of them are under contracts. A month ago, I started reading – ‘Rúben Neves, £100m’. That is not going to happen, we are not going to pay £100m for a holding midfielder. Of course, in all departments in the club, we have in every position four or five or six options – depending on age, what we believe and, of course, the price.

“The most expensive one was Riyhad [Mahrez, £60m last summer] and he earns far away from what the top teams pay. Our wage bill for the players is eighth or ninth or 10th in Europe, so there are eight or nine clubs where the wages are higher than Manchester City pay.

“We try to be stable in everything. When we spent a lot [two summers ago] – it was because the team was old – it was an average 30-31 years old and that’s why we did it. But we cannot do it every season. We have a limit and cannot spend more so that’s why we need to be careful with the players and try next season to see what we can do to improve.”
Pep Guardiola said Manchester City “are not going to pay £100m for a holding midfielder” such as Rúben Neves of Wolves or any other similar footballer to provide competition for Fernandinho.

Old Trafford Side Appear To Have Found A Good Balance Under Solskjaer

The Old Trafford side appear to have found a good balance under Solskjaer, scoring 16 times and conceding just three since his arrival in December.

"When you play against a good team you have got to defend. You have to earn the right to win a game of football," he said and quoted from reliable source.

"We're not going to go gung-ho and be naïve but Manchester United is about attacking football.

"We've got to go there and attack the game, we have to win to stand a chance of passing them in the league. We go there to take three points.

"Walking out at Wembley with a Manchester United shirt on, that brings the best out in quite a few players. Hopefully we can see that."

Manchester United's return to form has revived their chances of competing for a place in European competition next season, as they sit three points behind Arsenal and six adrift of fourth-placed Chelsea.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is confident Manchester United can line up to attack Tottenham without being naive defensively ahead of Sunday's Premier League clash.

Manchester United have won all of their five matches since the Norewegian was appointed until the end of the season in the wake of Jose Mourinho's sacking, but the new boss faces his biggest test so far as his side travel to Wembley to face the team sitting third in the league.

Cesc Fabregas, Signs A Three And A Half Year Deal With AS Monaco

The thirty one year old, Cesc Fabregas; Chelsea Midfielder, has signed a three and a half year deal with the principality club AS Monaco, with it hoped he will play a key role in helping the 2017 Ligue 1 champions avoid relegation.

He will reunite with former Arsenal team-mate and close friend Thierry Henry at Stade Louis II, with the Gunners' all-time top goalscorer taking his first steps in management after Leonardo Jardim was sacked in October.

"It is a great pleasure to join AS Monaco, a new project for me," Fabregas said in a statement.

Fabregas' departure from Chelsea sees him end four-and-a-half years at Stamford Bridge after he joined the Blues from Barcelona in 2014, with the Spain international helping the west London outfit win two Premier League titles, the FA Cup and the League Cup.

However, he will move to Monaco without a fee for now, as Chelsea will be paid via bonuses depending on the Fabregas’s performances.

Coutinho to Fight for Barca Spot

Ousmane Dembele joined Coutinho in completing a full 90 minutes and the Blaugrana boss insisted he was satisfied with both players, while encouraging them to press for continued opportunities.

"When Dembele wasn't playing, everyone was asking me about him," Valverde said.

“ Dembele's playing and Coutinho isn't and the reverse is happening. When you do not play and you are not happy, you have to fight to change the situation.

"Coutinho is a great player who has given us a lot and will give us a lot. I will say the same about Dembele. It's a repetitive question with interchangeable names."

Now, Ernesto Valverde urged Philippe Coutinho to continue fighting for his position following the playmaker's goal-scoring return to Barcelona's starting XI.

Coutinho started a domestic match for the first time since December 2 and converted an 85th-minute penalty as a much-changed Barca lost 2-1 at Levante in the first leg of their Copa del Rey last-16 tie.

The Brazil star's goal - his first since the 5-1 crushing of Real Madrid in October - gave the holders reason for optimism ahead of next week's return leg, having fallen two goals behind in the opening 18 minutes at Ciutat de Valencia.

Absence Of Lionel Messi And Luis Suarez Hampered The Holders' Hope

The absence of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez hampered the holders' hopes of extracting a result although they do have a goal to take back to Camp Nou on January 17 thanks to Philippe Coutinho's potentially pivotal 85th-minute penalty.
Barcelona are at risk of a last-16 exit from the Copa del Rey after a 2-1 first-leg loss at Levante left their trophy defence in doubt.

Jeison Murillo and Chumi, afforded opportunities amid a raft of Barca changes, floundered at the heart of defence and the hosts took full advantage, storming to an early two-goal advantage thanks to Erick Cabaco and Borja Mayoral.

Memories of the 5-4 thriller at Ciutat de Valencia last season that cost Ernesto Valverde's men an unbeaten LaLiga campaign came flooding back during an end-to-end first half in which Levante thrived.

Arsenal Goes for Loan for Suarez Deal

Denis Suarez, though, has been identified as player who can compete with Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Alex Iwobi  for a place on the flanks during the second half of the season, having previously worked under Emery when the two were at Sevilla in the 2014-15 season.

“I don’t know his [Suarez] situation now,” said Emery. “We can only sign players later on. I know the club is working on possibilities of which players can help us with big performances like we need now.”
Arsenal are closing in on a loan deal for Denis Suarez after head coach Unai Emery convinced the wideman to join the Gunners.

Although Emery confirmed in a pre-match press conference  that Arsenal will not be making any permanent signings during the January transfer window , but admitted that loan signings are possible.

The Gunners brought in Lucas Torreira, Bernd Leno, Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Matteo Guendouzi during the summer transfer window and are expecting an increased transfer budget this summer when their new £300m kit deal with Adidas kicks in.

Gabriel Jesus Scores 4 Goals in Man City 9-0 Win

The Premier League champions have now put 16 goals past lower-league opposition in the past four days, Pep Guardiola's men having thrashed Rotherham United 7-0 in the FA Cup on Sunday.

Gabriel Jesus took his tally to four either side of Phil Foden's tap-in, before Kyle Walker and Riyad Mahrez completed a miserable night for Burton's cup heroes. He grabbed four goals as Manchester City all but secured their place in the EFL Cup final with a crushing 9-0 first-leg victory over Burton Albion on Wednesday.

Kevin De Bruyne's first headed goal in English football set the hosts on their way, with Jesus adding a quickfire double before Oleksandr Zinchenko fortuitously opened his City account.

Ramsey Joins Juventus

Since January 1, Aaron Ramsey has been able to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with any club outside England, having been unable to agree a new deal with the Gunners.

Juventus deal is expected to be finalised after their Italian Super Cup game against AC Milan next Wednesday.

Wales international Ramsey joined Arsenal from Cardiff in 2008 and has scored 52 goals in his 252 Premier League games.

However, the Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey has agreed to join Juventus in the summer, according to reports in Italy.

Ramsey will leave Arsenal on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of the season - and we reported last week that a move to Juventus was his preferred choice

PSG is Out of Coupe de la Ligue

PSG, the tournament's champions in each of the previous five campaigns, had earlier gone ahead in the 62nd minute, Neymar breaking the deadlock just over a minute after Thuram's initial miss.

But a second Guingamp spot-kick was dispatched by substitute Yeni N'Gbakoto with nine minutes left and Thomas Tuchel's men were then sensationally dumped out by Thuram's decisive strike in the final moments.
Moreso, Paris Saint-Germain's Coupe de la Ligue dominance came to a dramatic end as Marcus Thuram overcame one penalty miss to convert another at the death in Guingamp's eventful 2-1 away triumph.

Having squandered a chance to put the Ligue 1 strugglers ahead from the spot, Thuram later held his nerve to convert the winner from the spot in the 93rd minute.
