Jadon Sancho Sets A New Record in Bundesliga

Goal

Jadon Sancho has set a new stride by becoming  the youngest player in Bundesliga history to score the highest number of goals. Sancho has scored 15 goals in the league, breaking a half-century old record.

Jadon Sancho , the 19-year-old attacker continued to cement his status as one of the league's best players as he delivered the equaliser for Borussia Dortmund against Cologne in the club’s second match of the season Friday.

Achraf Hakimi would find the back of the net 16 minutes later to give Dortmund the lead while Sancho chipped in again late on, assisting Paco Alcacer’s stoppage time insurance tally to give the visitors a 3-1 victory.

That brings Sancho’s total up to two goals and two assists already in the new season as he picks up from where he left off last campaign.

A first-half goal from Dominick Draxler had put the hosts up, but Sancho’s 70th minute goal, assisted by Thorgan Hazard, helped turn the tide in the contest.

Last season saw Sancho score 12 goals and add 14 assists in the league as he helped Dortmund to a title challenge that saw them take the race all the way to the final matchday of the season, though they fell short to Bayern Munich.

Sturridge , a 26- time England international left European champions Liverpool when his contract expired at the end of June.

Dani Alves Scored The Winning Goal On His Debut For Sao Paulo

Dani Alves return to Brazil after 17 years playing for top clubs in Europe has had a big impact on his home country. Alves is a Brazil veteran who scored the winning goal on his debut for Sao Paulo on Sunday , weeks after signing a three- year deal with the club. Alves , 36, found the back of the net in the 40th minute to score the only goal of the game against Ceara.

The right- back played for Sevilla before going on to play for Barcelona, Juventus and PSG , collecting nine national league titles along the way — six in Spain, one in Italy and two in France. He has collected 40 trophies in all with club and country including three Champions League titles with Barcelona and two UEFA Cups with Sevilla

Alves and Spanish international Juanfran, 34, are the stars for Sao Paulo, who snapped up both players after their contracts with European clubs expired.

Juanfran arrived in Sao Paulo after an extensive career in Spain where he played for Real Madrid, Espanyol, Osasuna and Atletico Madrid. He has also won two Copa Americas with Brazil , most recently in July when he was named player of the tournament as he captained them to victory over Peru in the final at the Maracana in Rio de Janeiro.

Guardiola Believes Man Untd, Chelsea and Arsenal Will Threat To Prevent City

Pep Guardiola - Coach

Pep Guardiola believed Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal will pose a threat to prevent City and Liverpool fighting out a two- horse race for the title like last season. Recall that Tottenham Hotspur may have finished fourth in the Premier League last season , far behind champions Manchester City and Champions League winners Liverpool , but City manager Guardiola has branded Spurs the “ second best team in Europe ” ahead of the two sides ’ meeting on Saturday .

Guardiola was referring to the fact that Tottenham knocked out City on their way to a first ever Champions League final last season before losing to Liverpool in Madrid. “ Last season , our first fixture was at the Emirates against Arsenal, ” he adds . “ The schedule is the schedule, so welcome to the Etihad Stadium.” “ I know how good Tottenham are ,” said Guardiola. “ It’s the second best team in Europe . For me , that is enough .”

“ Tottenham are really , really, good contenders ,” he states. “ Since I came here to England , every season Spurs was a real contender .
“ In the first season they finished second. We won in the last two seasons, but they were always there.”

“ I am impressed with how Chelsea played in two tough matches against top teams , ” said the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager . “ I was really surprised by how good Frank Lampard ’s team played .

However, bar their 1 - 0 defeat at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium in the first leg of that Champions League quarter- final, City have won five of the last six meetings between the teams and finished 27 points above them in the league. Since Tottenham’s last trophy the English League Cup in 2008, City have won ten major trophies. But if anyone is going to bridge the huge gap that City and Liverpool opened up at the top of the league last season , Mauricio Pochettino ’s men appear best placed to do so .

“ We saw Manchester United and the quality they have up front in that first game . While Arsenal bought good players , especially like David Luiz and Dani Ceballos , who was a top player in Spain , and they have people up front like (Alexandre ) Lacazette and (Pierre- Emerick) Aubameyang.” The second match of the season is early to be facing one of your direct rivals for the title , but Guardiola has no complaints about the timing .

Ernesto is Likely to be Without Messi in Bilbao and Neto Sideline

The Barcelona Coach, Ernesto Valverde is already likely to be without Lionel Messi against Bilbao and the Barcelona’ s back - up goalkeeper Neto will be sidelined for 4 - 6 weeks after he underwent surgery Tuesday on his injured wrist, the club said .

Messi missed the friendly win over Napoli on Saturday after sustaining a calf tear in training last week.

Neto joined Barcelona this summer from Valencia, with fellow goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen leaving Camp Nou and going the other way.

More so, Neto , who suffered the injury in training while on a US tour , will, therefore, miss Barca’s opening La Liga game away to Athletic Bilbao on Friday .

“Doctor Xavier Mir successfully carried out surgery this morning on a fractured scaphoid bone on the left hand of first- team player Neto. The downtime will be around six to eight weeks ,” a club statement read.

Manchester City Defeats Liverpool With A 5-4 Penalty Shoot

Manchester City  defeated Liverpool with a 5-4 penalty shoot-out win after a 1-1 draw in Community Shield at Wembley. Raheem Sterling gave City a first half lead before Joel Matip grabbed a late equaliser for Liverpool in the annual curtain-raiser to the English top-flight season. On the evidence of this hard-fought contest, which featured both flashes of quality and signs of rustiness, there will little to separate the two teams as they go head-to-head for the major prizes once again over the next 10 months. Retaining the Community Shield trophy they won 12 months ago would improve City’s belief that they can repeat last season’s remarkable silverware haul, but Liverpool could take encouragement as well after they finished strongly enough to have won.

In the shoot-out, City keeper Claudio Bravo saved from Georginio Wijnaldum, with Gabriel Jesus driving in the winning kick after successful efforts from Ilkay Gundogan, Bernardo Silva, Phil Foden and Oleksandr Zinchenko. The jubilant celebrations from City’s players and fans showed inflicting an early psychological blow on Liverpool was a moment to savour, regardless of the supposed warm-up status of the glamour friendly. With City installed as favourites to win the title for a third successive season and Liverpool expected to present the strongest challenge to Pep Guardiola’s side, their meeting on the eve of the season was a window into what to expect this term.

After pipping Liverpool to last season’s Premier League title with 98 points to their rivals’ 97, City went on to complete an unprecedented domestic treble by adding the FA Cup to the League Cup they won earlier in the campaign. But Jurgen Klopp’s men didn’t dwell on that painful near-miss as they won the Champions League just weeks later.

The only dark cloud for City was an injury to Leroy Sane, who limped off in the 10th minute holding his right leg after collapsing while chasing a long pass. Sane was playing on the day reports claimed his agents had agreed a contract with Bayern Munich, who are keen to sign the Germany winger. City’s victory was a well-time riposte for Guardiola, who this week hit back at Klopp’s claim that the champions live in a transfer “fantasy land”.

The 23-year-old’s composed passing and physical presence showed why City’s financial muscles have been flexed again. Sterling hadn’t scored in his last 10 appearances against Liverpool in all competitions, but the England winger ended that drought in the 12th minute. Kyle Walker’s high pass to the far post caught Liverpool appealing in vain for offside as Kevin De Bruyne headed on to David Silva.

Silva flicked towards Sterling and his close-range effort was just strong enough to escape the grasp of Reds keeper Alisson Becker and trickle over the line. Much improved after the interval, Liverpool were inches away from equalising when Virgil van Dijk’s half-volley crashed down off the crossbar onto the goalline before City scrambled clear. Salah was by far Liverpool’s most menacing player and he twisted away from the City defence before firing a fierce strike that cannoned off the outside of the post.

Guardiola had his head in his hands in frustration when Sterling again ran clear on goal without scoring as his hesitant stumble allowed Alisson to save at his feet.City paid for that miss when Liverpool deservedly equalised in the 77th minute, Van Dijk helping on Jordan Henderson’s free-kick before substitute Matip headed in from close-range. Walker’s incredible overhead-kick clearance then repelled what looked to be a late Salah winner, setting up City’s shoot-out triumph that stood as the opening salvo in what looks set to be a season

Solskjaer's Side Strolled to a 2-0 Win In Australia Without Romelu Lukaku

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side strolled to a 2-0 win in Australia with Romelu
Lukaku not included in the match-day squad due to a minor injury.

The 26-year-old's absence comes in the wake of Inter beginning negotiations with United over a possible transfer a few days ago.

Asked whether Lukaku would be a Red Devils player next season, Solskjaer kept his cards close to his chest.

The future of Romelu Lukaku at Manchester United remains firmly up in the air, with the Belgian striker rested in the Red Devils' first pre-season outing against Perth Glory on Saturday.

"Let’s see when the season starts," Solskjaer said.

"We’ve not had any bids that we’re considering. All my conversations with the players I will keep confidential. That’s between us - that's my privilege.

"There’s been so much speculation but yes he should be fit for Wednesday. He trained with the team yesterday but he wasn’t useful today."

Frank First Win as Chelsea Manager

Frank Lampard, who spent 13 years as a player at Chelsea, left Derby to replace Maurizio Sarri as Blues manager this month. Frank Lampard won his first game as Chelsea manager as they beat St Patrick's Athletic 4-0 in a pre-season friendly in Dublin.

Mason Mount ran on to Mateo Kovacic's pass to open the scoring before Emerson Palmieri netted from outside the box.

Olivier Giroud, one of 11 half-time changes, turned home Kenedy's cross and added a late fourth.

The Blues drew 1-1 with Bohemians, another Dublin side, in Lampard's first game in charge on Wednesday.

Michy Batshuayi and Ross Barkley hit the woodwork for Chelsea against St Patrick's Athletic.

Eric Molloy, who scored the equaliser for Bohemians, came on as a second-half substitute for St Patrick's Athletic, for whom he is on trial.

The Villarreal star, Samuel Chukwueze who won the Man of the Match award in Nigeria’s 2-1 win over South Africa last Wednesday, stated that the Desert Foxes are beatable. The 20-year-old noted that Algeria have a good team but that the Super Eagles are not afraid of any team at this stage of the competition.

The 20-year-old noted that Algeria have a good team but that the Super Eagles are not afraid of any team at this stage of the competition.

Nigeria head to the game after defeating South Africa in the quarter-final, while Algeria defeated Ivory Coast to advance further.

“Algeria is a good team, but we are not scared of them. We can’t be scared of any team at this stage of the competition,” Chukwueze said

“It is true that a lot of people have tipped them to win the trophy, but we will prove them wrong on Sunday. “We saw their game against Ivory Coast. It was an interesting game between two top quality teams. For us, we are not afraid, they are beatable”

Manchester United is Interested in Sergej Milinkovic-Savic

Manchester United have had a long-standing interest in Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, with Jose Mourinho personally scouting him during Serbia's 2-0 win over Montenegro in October 2018.

Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has scored 31 goals in 138 appearances for Lazio since joining from Belgian side Genk in July 2014.

United have also renewed their interest in Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic, according to report.

Mourinho was interested in potentially adding the 21-year-old to his United squad last January, before being sacked by United in December.

It is understood Milinkovic-Savic, who signed a new deal with Lazio last October, would like to go but will not force a move and would be prepared to stay at Lazio for another year.

Manchester United are interested in Lazio midfielder Milinkovic-Savic, according to reports in Italy.

James Rodriguez Looks For A Move Away From Santiago Bernabeu

James Rodriguez is looking for a move away from Santiago Bernabeu after his two-year loan spell at the Allianz Arena ended with Bayern opting not to trigger a clause to sign him permanently for €42 million (£37m/$47m).

James wants to move to Napoli but the club are yet to agree a transfer fee with Real Madrid, according to the Serie A side's chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis.

A move to Napoli has been widely tipped, although the playmaker admitted last month that Real Madrid will have a significant influence on where he ends up next season.

And De Laurentiis says Napoli are waiting to come to terms with the Liga club.

"James is the footballer who, after Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi, is considered one of the best," De Laurentiis told Corriere dello Sport.

"Ancelotti likes him very much, and James wants a move to Napoli, but we are waiting for a more reasonable demand from Real. They have high demands in our opinion."

The Colombia international worked with Carlo Ancelotti during his time with Los Blancos and Bayern Munich, and De Laurentiis has confirmed the Italian is keen to bring his former player to Naples.

AC Milan and Inter Milan Plans to Build One Stadium

Stadium in Milan

In the consequence of the above, AC Milan and Inter Milan will knock down the San Siro Stadium
“ Everything is proceeding,” Scaroni told La Gazzetta dello Sport from Lausanne, where the Olympic Committee will on Monday select the hosts for the 2026 Winter Olympic Games, for which Milan is a candidate city.

“We will build a new San Siro next to the old one on the same area of land.“ The old one will be knocked down and, in its place, there will be new constructions.”

In conclusion, Milan and Inter are collaborating on a joint project which, according to Scaroni, will see the iconic venue demolished with a new stadium constructed.

MOROCCO DEFEATS NAMIBIA IN THE ONGOING 2019 AFCON

Morocco defeated Namibia in the ongoing 2019 AFCON (Africa Cup of Nation) with one goal to nil at last minute own goal. The 47th-ranked team in the world were expected to have a comfortable start. Morocco dominated a game in hot temperatures where the tempo was languid but looked increasingly desperate as the game wore on.

Namibia are playing in just their third Cup of Nations. Kazapua saved several efforts throughout the game, including a quick-thinking scramble with an outstretched leg in the 72nd minute to keep Morocco at bay.
Substitute Itamunua Keimune botched an attempted clearance and headed the ball into his own net at the end of a free kick from Morocco midfielder Hakim Ziyech in the 89th minute of the opening Group D game at the Al Salam Stadium.

Morocco coach Herve Renard, who has won two Cup of Nations titles, had warned that the opening game for many of the tournament favourites may be difficult. And his forecast proved true as Namibia goalkeeper Lloyd Kazapua produced several key stops.
But his heroics did not extend to the last minute as Morocco took all three points in fortuitous circumstances. The free kick evaded several defenders before the bounce caught out Keimune who inadvertently steered it past his own goalkeeper in a heartbreaking outcome for underrated Namibia.

Renard brought on three strikers in the second half with Sofiane Boufal proving lively but also off-target with his efforts. The other two teams in Group D — Ivory Coast and South Africa — play their opening game on Monday.

Sanchez Scores A 51st-minute Winner Goal For Chile to Qualify For Quarter Finals

Alexis Sanchez

Alexis Sanchez scored a 51st-minute winner to send the two-time defending champions into the quarter-finals courtesy of a 2-1 victory as Chile moved into the Copa America quarter-finals over Ecuador. The goal was Sanchez's 43rd international goal in 126 total appearances for Chile, and also his second of the tournament.

The star attacker is again dealing with an ankle injury, although Rueda confirmed it was not the same setback he suffered late during the season with Manchester United.

Sanchez struck for the second time in as many games, his 51st-minute goal enough to see Chile onto six points and through from Group C.

Jose Fuenzalida's opener had earlier been cancelled out by an Enner Valencia penalty in an encounter that never reached any great heights in Salvador.

But Sanchez's goal put the two-time defending champions into the last eight with a game to spare in the group, with Gabriel Achilier seeing red late on for Ecuador. Sanchez suffered an ankle injury during Chile's win over Ecuador at the Copa America, coach Reinaldo Rueda confirmed.

"He was evaluated in the break and the doctor determined that he could continue," Rueda told a news conference. "It was very important what he offered. Fortunately, it was not the same ankle that was injured with Manchester United. "Now, we have to evaluate post-match and hopefully he can be in the next game with us."

Gainluigi Buffon Wants To Quit Footballing For One Year

Gainluigi Buffon wants to quit footballing for a year. Buffon said, "Some good proposals have arrived, but if I don't have the right motivation I can decide to take a year all for myself, all mine. One year of education." Quoted from a reliable source

The 41-year-old Guianluigi Buffon agreed with the club not to pursue the option of a further 12 months despite having the opportunity to take up an extension at Parc des Princes.

Buffon could spend a year out of football after turning down Paris Saint-Germain's lucrative offer of a second season because he did not want to watch from the bench.

"PSG told me five months ago that I would be the second goalkeeper next season," Buffon said and quoted  from a reliable source.

"I had plenty of time to think about it and I came to the conclusion that this was not for me, so I gave up a lot of money and a one-year option.

"Their request was absolutely legitimate, understandable and was an attractive offer.

"Today I find myself in a situation like last summer, in an extraordinary state of serenity, in a state of total relaxation where everything is open and it could all end in twelve months or in fifteen days.

Buffon could spend a year out of football after turning down Paris Saint-Germain's lucrative offer of a second season because he did not want to watch from the bench.

To end it all the Italian legend Gianluigi Buffon parted ways with the Ligue 1 champions following the end of his maiden campaign in France.

2020 Tokyo Olympics Declares Intentions to Make Podiums With Plastics

2020 Olympics Preparations

2020 Tokyo Olympics committee has declared their intentions to make her stadium podiums with plastics which will collected from local agents and residents.

Tokyo 2020 CEO Toshiro Muto said the plan would help push a message of sustainability, which organisers want to be a key theme of the Games next year.

"By sending that message to both Japan and the rest of the world, we think this project will have great significance," he told reporters.

Plastic for the project will be gathered at more than 2,000 outlets of a local supermarket chain, where boxes will be set out for Tokyo residents to drop off their recyclable plastic waste.

It will be the first time podiums have been made from recycled materials and organisers say they will need about 45 tonnes of plastic to fashion around 100 podiums for the Games.

Plastic for the project will be gathered at more than 2,000 outlets of a local supermarket chain, where boxes will be set out for Tokyo residents to drop off their recyclable plastic waste.

The project will also use plastic waste that has been collected from the ocean during marine clean-ups.

The 2020 organisers have been keen to promote an eco-friendly message with the Games, including making all the medals from recycled electronic waste.
