Manchester Utd Conceded 17 Goals In Solskjaer’s 17 Games

The wheels have fallen off spectacularly from  Manchester United’s recovery in recent weeks, with the team having now conceded 17 goals in Solskjaer’s 17 games in charge and 46 in total in the league.

Manchester Unitetd crashed out of the FA Cup to Wolves in March, before a footballing lesson from Barcelona saw them dumped out of Europe on the end of a 4-0 aggregate defeat.

Consequently, United have conceded more goals this season than in any previous Premier League campaign as their travails under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer continue to worsen.

Goals from Richarlison and Gylfi Sigurdsson in the first half at Goodison Park gave Everton a 2-0 lead at the break, leaving United with a mountain to climb if they are reel in the sides above them in the race for the Champions League.

That run has seen them go 11 matches without a clean sheet for the first time since November and December 1998, with Solskjaer himself playing a part in eight of those matches.

It still represents an improvement on performances under predecessor Jose Mourinho. United let in 29 goals in 17 games before the Portuguese was sacked on December 17 with the club languishing in midtable in the Premier League.

Spurs Vs Ajax and Liverpool vs Barcelona Champions League Semifinal

Spurs will now take on Ajax in the semifinal while Liverpool have been pitted against Barcelona. In the other Champions League quarter-final, Liverpool coasted past FC Porto 4-1 to register a 6-1 aggregate win.

Sadio Mane, Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino and Virgil Van Dijk were all on target for Klopp's side while Eder scored Porto's consolation.
Consequently, Manchester City saw their quadruple dreams come crashing down after going down to Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League quarter-finals.

However, City needed to overhaul a 1-0 loss from the first leg but could only win 4-3 after an intense match which saw a flurry of goals at the start. However, the 4-4 aggregate score meant Spurs qualified on away goals rule.

In the competitive match, Raheem Sterling had given Spurs an early lead (4') but two goals from Heung-Min Son (7', 10') put Spurs in a commanding position. However, goals from Sterling (21') and Sergio Aguero (59') seemed to have handed City the initiative, only for Fernando Llorente to score the winner in the 73rd minute.

There was drama late on as Sterling found the back of the net in the 93rd minute but after a VAR check, the goal was disallowed and Spurs held on for a famous victory.

Spurs Marked Their First Competitive Game At Their New Stadium On Wednesday With A 2-0 Win Over Crystal Palace

Spurs marked their first competitive game at their new stadium on Wednesday with a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace to boost their prospects of finishing in the Premier League’s top four.

However, the Mauricio Pochettino’s side have a further four league fixtures at home as they battle with Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United for Champions League qualification.

In this regard Eden Hazard has commented on their new stadium - "I think Tottenham, for two or three years, have been one of the best teams in England. That is for sure," Hazard said at Stamford Bridge after beating Brighton.

"We are Chelsea, and it is a big derby. I don’t like that to be fair, but we have to accept it. For the Premier League it is good – a new stadium, they have top players.

"But, at the end, at Chelsea, we won a lot of trophies, they have not, so I hope this continues. I think that I like that because people are not talking about Chelsea for the top four. We are quiet, fifth, sixth and then we can be ready for the game."

Wolves Made No Secret Of Their Desire To Retain Raul Jimenez’s Services

After seeing the 27-year-old star in Premier League and FA Cup competition, Wolves made no secret of their desire to retain Raul Jimenez’s services.

The Mexico international made his way to Molineux in the summer of 2018 on a season-long loan from Benfica.

A productive debut campaign in England has delivered 15 goals in 37 appearances.

An agreement which had been hinted at for some time has now been pushed through, with a four-year contract put in place.

Wolves have now completed a club-record £30 million ($40m) deal to sign Jimenez on a permanent basis from Benfica

Cesc Fabregas Reactions To Arsene Wenger’s Departure

The Gunners bid farewell to an iconic French coach in the summer of 2018. After 22 years of stability and continuity in north London, a page was turned as Wenger walked away a year before his contract was due to expire.

More so, Cesc Fabregas admits the manner of Arsene Wenger’s departure from Arsenal, with his reputation tarnished by back-to-back finishes out of the top four, left him feeling “sad” for a former boss.

Fabregas hopes history will be kind to the man who gave him his big break, with it important to remember all of the good that Wenger did in England before reflecting on a forgettable end.

Quizzed on the criticism aimed at the ex-Gunners boss prior to his departure, Fabregas said,  “Some moments I was sad, yes. He doesn’t deserve it for what he’s done.

“In football, it’s all about today. What you’ve done yesterday, unfortunately, doesn’t count.”

He scored 126 goals in 366 appearances for United between 1996 and 2007 and also managed the club’s reserve team until the end of 2010. He was appointed caretaker manager on 19 December 2018 and won his first eight games in charge on the way to an overall record of 14 victories and two draws in 19 games, amassing more Premier League points than any other club during that time.

Sarri Faces An Uncertain Future At Chelsea

Sarri faces an uncertain future at Chelsea, with the club understood to be considering potential replacements for their head coach and fans growing frustrated with his tactical approach.

He said: "The situation is a little bit different. In my first year, the club never doubted me. It was never in the media that I'd be sacked if they lose this game or the other game. It never happened.

"Sometimes the situation is difficult and it needs time. The first season with Maurizio is the same. You need time but the people supported me here.

"The players knew who the manager was and everybody is in the right situation. After that you can win or lose but it is stable. That is the best way to build something for a long time, not just a short period."

Manchester City manager Guardiola, who was an admirer of Sarri's Napoli team, offered his support for the Italian earlier this month, saying his tactics had been misunderstood at Chelsea.

Kepa is a concern for the Wembley final, with Blues boss Maurizio Sarri admitting he is hopeful but not convinced he will be available for selection.

"We have some problems at the moment," said Sarri.

"We have Zappacosta with fever, we have Pedro with a very strong stomach ache, and then we have a problem with Kepa, with his hamstring."

Moreso, the Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga is in danger of missing the Carabao Cup final with Manchester City on Sunday because of a hamstring injury.

The Spaniard is one of three players - along with Pedro and Davide Zappacosta - who are rated doubtful for Europa League game with Malmo at Stamford Bridge.

Juventus Have Won The Previous Seven Serie A Titles

Juventus have won the previous seven Serie A titles to become the dominant force in Italy, and Ibrahimovic thinks going to a lesser side and taking them to glory would have been a greater challenge.

The Portugal star has fared well in Serie A thus far with 18 goals, the best tally in the Italian top flight, and seven assists so far this season.

"I didn't say his transfer wasn't great,” Ibrahimovic,  clarifying the belief the striker had previously criticised Ronaldo’s move to Juventus.

"I said that it wasn't a challenge to join Juventus. It's not a challenge to go to one of the best teams in the world.

"Maybe it depends on what you mean by challenge. For me, a challenge is joining a team and taking them far. That's a challenge.”

Ronaldo left Real Madrid in the summer for the Bianconeri in a €100 million (£90m/$114m) deal and previously called his move to Turin a challenge, even encouraging Lionel Messi to undertake something similar.

Moreover, Zlatan Ibrahimovic does not believe Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to Juventus has presented the Portuguese forward with a new challenge, noting the Serie A giants were already a great club.

Mauro Icardi Has Been Heavily Linked With A Move To Real Madrid

Argentina international Mauro Icardi has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid recently, as talks over a new contract at San Siro continue to stall.
Wanda has stated her belief that Icardi should be offered a much larger wage packet to reflect his standing in European football while also admitting that several top clubs from Spain, England and France have already expressed an interest in him.

The 25-year-old hitman has scored nine goals in 20 Serie A matches this season but he will no longer serve as captain, with Handanovic set to take up the role starting  in the Europa League.
Inter have named goalkeeper Samir Handanovic as their new club captain, stripping star striker Mauro Icardi of the role amid persistent transfer rumours.

Ronaldo's 18th League Goal Of The Season

Cristiano Ronaldo's 18th league goal of the season for Juventus and a late strike from Emre Can made sure of the Bianconeri's first victory in three matches across all competitions, coming a day after second-placed Napoli were held to a draw by Fiorentina to make a successful title defence look all the more likely.

Khedira scored his second goal of the season in the 23rd minute to put Juve in front and committed displays from Blaise Matuidi and Federico. Bernardeschi ensured Massimiliano Allegri's men did not miss Paulo Dybala, who was named on the bench after he stormed off the touchline against Parma.

The champions recovered from a chaotic 3-3 draw at home against Parma with a straightforward victory and a more composed performance at MAPEI Stadium on Sunday.

Juventus extended their lead at the top of Serie A to 11 points after beating Sassuolo 3-0 courtesy of goals from Sami Khedira, Cristiano Ronaldo and Emre Can.

Tottenham Stadium is Near Completion

In a statement ,  Tottenham said that remedial works on safety systems in the new stadium are nearing completion.

Wembley will be at maximum capacity for the fixture, with 90,000 tickets available.

Tottenham said they will announce refund details for those who had tickets in the new stadium in due course.

Testing of the fire detection and alarm systems will follow, both requirements for the club to obtain a safety certificate and open the stadium.

Tottenham have confirmed that their Premier League fixture against north London rivals Arsenal on Saturday, March 2 will take place at Wembley.

Phil Jones Moves to Manchester United

The England international is delighted to have committed his future to the Red Devils, with his recent form under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer being rewarded. Phil Jones told United’s official website: “I am delighted to have signed a new contract. Manchester United has been a big part of my life for eight years and I love everything about this club.

The deal agreed by the versatile 26-year-old includes the option for a further 12-month extension once the initial terms run down.He had been due to become a free agent this summer, but can now start planning for the long-term at Old Trafford.

“I am excited about the challenges that lie ahead of us as we prepare for a very busy period in the season. “I would like to thank Ole and the coaching staff for their continued support in my development.”

Phil Jones has signed a new contract at Manchester United which will keep him at the club until at least 2023.

Molde Agrees To Loan Out Their Manage

Molde agreed to loan out their manager for the second half of the 2018-19 season, but Solskjaer joked that the club would like to see him stay longer in Manchester.

“When I rang the owner and said that United had called and that he always knew that this had been my dream, he said: ‘Go over, enjoy yourself – and please don’t come back!’

“Both owners wished me all the best because they knew this is something I dreamed about," he explained to reporters.

“To get the backing from them was fantastic. If I go back to Molde, I will do my best for them – but it depends when I go back.

“It’s been fantastic so far. Hopefully I will get to see my family soon, because that has been the only downside to the job.”

Solskjaer, a fans' favourite at United from his playing days, was drafted in to fill the void left by Jose Mourinho when the Special One was sacked in December.

His spell has since proved a runaway success, with a string of impressive victories propelling the club back into contention for Champions League qualification.

However, the Manchester United interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that Molde told him they hope he does so well at Old Trafford that he won't return to the Norwegian club.

Eder Militao's Transfer Has Been Delayed

Los Blancos have already come to an agreement on personal terms with the Brazilian defender and his representatives, and the Portuguese club had allowed these negotiations to take place, yet the deal has hit a snag.

There are six million euros which stand between what is an acceptable fee for the defender, with Sao Paolo owed exactly that figure as a training fee, as is stipulated in FIFA's regulations.

Porto have argued that the payment must be made by the European champions, however the Spanish club are unwilling to be bullied into a payment that they feel has absolutely nothing to do with them.

Their stance is further strengthened by the fact they will have to part with 50 million euros anyway if they hope to sign the 21-year-old.

Compensatory training fees can be claimed by a club who has developed a player from the age of 12 to 21, although the payment remains valid until the individual turns 23.

However, It's been widely mooted for a number of weeks that Real Madrid will once again return to Porto in order to sign a talented, young defender, yet Eder Militao's move to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu has been delated due to a dispute over a compensatory training fee.
