Kingsley Moghalu Reacts to Professor Soyinka’s Endorsement


Professor Soyinka, a professor, had announced  the decision of his Citizen Forum to throw their weight behind Mr Moghalu, describing the YPP candidate as the most qualified among the presidential candidates.

However, the presidential candidate of the Young Progressives Party, Kingsley Moghalu, has described the endorsement of his candidature by Nobel Laureate, Wole Soyinka, as “humbling.”

Mr Moghalu, a former deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, said in a statement Saturday that the endorsement was important because of Mr Soyinka’s reputation and the “elaborate process” his Citizen Forum went through before reaching their decision.

“Our party – the Young Progressives Party – and I, salute the courage and the good judgment of the Nobel Laureate and icon of democratic struggle in Nigeria,” Mr Moghalu said in the statement.



DINO MALAYE, SAYS APC IS SICK

Upon resumption of plenary on Wednesday, May 30, after battling with police and being on admission in the hospital, he had opted to sit with Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmakers, a decision which resulted in rowdy at the Red Chambers.

Senator Dino Melaye has criticised the current state of the All Progressives Congress (APC), noting that the party is sick and "suffering from a dreadful continental abnormality." Melaye said further that he does not have a problem with the APC, "but my party may have a problem with Nigerians because of the way it is presently being run.

In reaction to the question on which platform and the political party he would be contesting to retain his seat in 2019, Melaye said, "When we get to that bridge, we shall cross it." We can partner to make Nigeria progress but there is not supposed to be any romance," he said, adding that the role of the national assembly to check the excesses of the executive.

AISHA ALHASSAN -APC WILL RULE NIGERIA FOREVER

Crisis is normal in a big party like APC,” she said. “Once we can do our national convention, then we face the opposition PDP and I assure you that APC will win more states like Taraba in 2019. “I will make sure that in my zone, I follow up and by God’s grace Gombe and Taraba will be taken over in 2019. And don’t even talk about Nigeria because it’s already APC and it will continue to be APC forever.”

Alhassan also disclosed her intention to contest the Taraba State governorship election in 2019, saying: “I won the election in 2015 but I wasn’t destined to be Governor.


Aisha Alhassan is the Minister of Women Affairs, believes that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will rule Nigeria forever. Alhassan said this in Abuja on Monday while addressing journalists shortly after the inauguration of state chairmen of the party. She maintained that despite the wide-ranging rancour in the party, nothing would stop it from retaining power in 2019 and beyond.
