Ashleigh Barty defeated Vondroušová in the Grandslam final in one hour and eleven minutes in the 2019 French Open. She defeated her opponent with 6-1 6-3

After a sabbatical to play cricket, unranked Ashleigh Barty made her singles comeback at a 50k tournament in Eastbourne 3 years ago last week.

She has lost only two sets in the entire tournament, defeating the likes Madison Keys, Amanda Anisimova and Andrea Petkovic en-route to the final.

Barty's opponent Vondroušová was unseeded heading into the 2019 French Open. She has surged into the spotlight over the past month.

Aussie Tennis star Asleigh Barty, true to her favourites tag going into the final, clinically dispatched her teenage opponent Markéta Vondroušová to claim her maiden Grandslam title.

Margaret Court was the last Australian to win the French Open(1973).

This has  been the youngest final in the WTA for the past eleven years now.

Vondroušová topped number 3 seed Simona Halep in the Italian Open before eventually losing to Konta in quarterfinal. She had her revenge against the Brit when she defeated her in the semi final at Paris. She hadn't lost a set till the final.
