Zidane is Keen To Sell Gareth Bale In Summer

The latest decision to leave out Gareth Bale comes following a report by AS that claimed Zinedine Zidane is keen to sell the former Tottenham star in the summer. Bale, the 29-year-old was absent from the 19-man squad list for Madrid's penultimate game of the Liga season away to Real Sociedad, with Bale having also been left out of the 3-2 win over Villarreal last time out.

Barnett has now expressed his disappointment that his client hasn't featured more regularly in recent weeks, but that he hopes he is able to continue at Madrid. Ultimately, though, he accepts the decision will be Zidane's to make. He said: "It's a shame Bale is not playing.

"Should he be playing more after being left out of the last two squad lists? I can only hope that he keeps playing for Real Madrid. But that's up to Mr. Zidane. "Zidane makes the decision. Is this [Bale being dropped] a message ahead of the next transfer market? You'd have to ask the coach." Bale is contracted to Madrid until 2022 and has scored 14 goals in all competitions for Los Blancos this season.

However, many of the headlines at Real Madrid in recent weeks have regarded matters off the pitch rather than on it, and that was again the case in Zinedine Zidane's latest press conference. Speaking ahead of the match against Real Sociedad, Zidane was questioned about statements from Gareth Bale's agent about his future.

"No, I don't want to answer, I'm the coach of Real Madrid and he does his job," the Frenchman insisted. "I have to think about the game, playing well, that's what worries me." Journalists continued to press the coach on a conversation reported to have taken place between Zidane and Bale this week regarding his future.

"I won't tell you anything about it, private conversations are private," he said defiantly. "It's what I have to do with all of the players, but it stays internal. "Did I talk to him? Maybe no or maybe yes; with the players I talk about other things, not just the future." Bale's departure would surely lead to more money in the transfer kitty in the summer, and Zidane couldn't hide his hopes for the months ahead.
