Clergy Describes The Nigeria 2019 General Elections As Worst Ever Conducted

News today

A clergy has described the just concluded  2019 general election in Nigeria as the worst ever conducted election in history of the nation.

The Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) President, Rev. Dachollom Datiri, described the 2019 general polls as the worst ever general election in the history of the country at the opening of the Church’s 96th General Church Council, ongoing at its headquarters in Jos, the Plateau State capital.

The Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) also equally prayed that those seeking justice will find it at the tribunals.

The clergy said that the elections have come and gone, proving wrong apprehensions of Nigerians of potentially violent polls.

The elections were generally peaceful, but with the drafting of the armed forces including the Nigeria army to the polling units, and the number of petitions already at the tribunals reaching 736. These were the worse elections ever in the history of Nigeria.

The clergy later stressed out that we all need to pray that justice will be done at the tribunals.

Study Uncovers Two Metres Increase in Sea Level In Coming Century

Sea levels next century

Study has uncovered that there will be two metres increase in sea level in next century. The United Nations' Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) said its 2013 Fifth Assessment Report that under current emissions trajectories -- a "business-as-usual" scenario known as RCP8.5 -- would likely rise by up to one metre by 2100.
In this regard, the global sea level geometrical increase by two metres will displace tens of millions of people by the end of the century, according to new projections that double the UN's benchmark estimates.

Further more, the vast ice sheets of Greenland and Antarctica contain enough frozen water to lift the world's oceans dozens of metres. The expansion of water as oceans warm also contributes to sea level rise.

However, but predicting the rates at which they will melt as the planet heats is notoriously tricky.
That prediction has since been viewed as conservative, as the levels of planet-warming greenhouse gas emissions continue to rise year on year, and satellites showing accelerated rates of melt-off from massive ice sheets atop Antarctica and Greenland.

You Are Marvelously Unique

Don't Fear

Human beings are special. God created us with marvelous uniqueness and the awesome ability to have an intimate relationship with Him. Like David, we can praise Him because we’re the workmanship of His loving hands.

What are some practical implications of knowing and believing you’re fearfully and wonderfully made? What are some negative consequences of not believing this? God created human beings to be like Him.

Human beings are not special—at least according to the London Zoo. In 2005, the zoo introduced a four-day exhibit: “Humans in Their Natural Environment.” The human “captives” were chosen through an online contest. To help visitors understand the humans, the zoo workers created a sign detailing their diet, habitat, and threats. According to the zoo’s spokesperson, the goal of the exhibit was to downplay the uniqueness of human beings. One participant in the exhibit seemed to agree. “When they see humans as animals, here, it kind of reminds them that we’re not that special.”

What a stark contrast to what the Bible says about human beings: God “fearfully and wonderfully” made us in “his image” (Psalm 139:14; Genesis 1:26–27).

David began Psalm 139 by celebrating God’s intimate knowledge of him (vv. 1–6) and His all-encompassing presence (vv. 7–12). Like a master weaver, God not only formed the intricacies of David’s internal and external features (vv. 13–14), but He also made him a living soul, giving spiritual life and the ability to intimately relate to God. Meditating on God’s handiwork, David responded in awe, wonder, and praise (v. 14).

Dear Lord, help us to know that it's in You that we find and discover our true identity, and in a world that is built with chaos and confusion, help us to take great comfort and knowing that as Eph 1:5 puts it, we're predestined for adoption to sonship in Jesus Christ. May this Word be a reminder to those needing encouragement and strength to continue their walk with You. And it's in Jesus name we pray. Amen!

Today's Scripture: Psalm 139:1-14

God’s Standard Remains

To explain the place of law and grace in our lives as Christians, one of my sons once said that the law teaches us godliness while grace gives us the power to do what the law commands. We can then say that law and grace work together for us to live acceptably before God. You cannot claim to be under the grace of God and live a lawless life, because those who live under God’s grace are subject to the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1-2). You are a partaker of God’s grace because the Spirit of Lordship now lives in you and controls you to live by Christ’s commandments. On the other hand, you cannot obey the instructions of this Spirit of Lordship without the help of God’s grace. Why? It is because His standard is high and His was uncompromising. This is the reason why Christ paid such a high price for us to gain access to God’s throne, where we obtain grace that helps us in this regard. Hebrews 4:16 says:

“Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”

God’s standard is entrenched in His word. No matter how much the world changes, the standards which God’s word sets for man to live by cannot be changed (Matthew 24:35, 2 Timothy 2:19).

Our Lord Jesus Christ in today’s Bible below said He did not come to destroy the law or the prophets; rather, He came to fulfil them by the grace He brought from heaven. His grace is more than enough for those who are willing to obey God, love Him and worship Him in spirit and in truth. Whatever the Lord commands, He gives the grace to do (Philippians 2:13). From the Lord’s teachings in Matthew 5:27-32, it is obvious that His standard of the Law of Moses. This is because His standard establishes the will of God as it was in the beginning (Matthew 19:8). Thankfully, His grace is more than enough to help us meet this standard. For example, Christ brought the grace not only to avoid going into the act of sexual immorality but also to help us not lust after the opposite sex in our hearts (Matthew 5:27-28). The law says we should not commit murder, but the letter of grace helps us not to be angry at all. The same thing applies to the issue of divorce. Jesus Christ taught against divorce, equating it with the sin of adultery (Matthew 5:31-32). God’s standards have not changed, and they will never change. Our love for God should motivate us to live by His standards. James 1:25 says:

“But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.”

Let us continually look into the perfect law of liberty in order to please our God daily.
MEMORISE:
Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. Matthew 24:35

BIBLE PASSAGE : Matthew 5:17-20
17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

PRAYER POINT:
Father, please grant me the grace to live by Your standards daily, in Jesus’ Name.

HYMN 12: DEEPER, DEEPER IN THE LOVE OF JESUS
Deeper, deeper in the love of Jesus
Daily let me go;
Higher, higher in the school of wisdom,
More of grace to know.
Refrain:
Oh, deeper yet, I pray,
And higher every day,
And wiser, blessed Lord,
In Thy precious, holy Word.

Deeper, deeper, blessed Holy Spirit,
Take me deeper still,
Till my life is wholly lost in Jesus,
And His perfect will.

Deeper, deeper! though it cost hard trials,
Deeper let me go!
Rooted in the holy love of Jesus,
Let me fruitful grow.

Deeper, higher, every day in Jesus,
Till all conflict past,
Finds me conqu’ror, and in His own image
Perfected at last.

Deeper, deeper in the faith of Jesus,
Holy faith and true;
In His pow’r and soul exulting wisdom
Let me peace pursue.

Soccer

Inter Milan didn't qualify for champion league in the 2019-20 season because they didn't reach the top four.  Inter Milan was defeated by Napoli with 4-1 goals away. In this regard Inter Milan will go for next champions league.

Netherlands Defeat Italy In Under Seventeen European Championship

Netherlands defeated Italy in the just concluded Under-17 European Championship. This made Netherlands to retained the championship. Italy was defeated by  two goals to four. ( 2-4)

It was almost twelve months to the day since the sides met in the final of the 2018 edition in England, the Netherlands made it back-to-back successes after racing into a three-goal first-half lead that Italy never looked likely to recover from.

Sontje Hansen of Ajax opened the scoring for the Dutch, before a free-kick from Liverpool’s Ki-Jana Hoever came back off the post to be finished by Naoufal Bannis on the rebound.

What is Satanic Child Psychology ?

Daily Devotional

I think we can all agree that chastisement is not a pleasant thing. However, although nobody wants to be chastised, rebuked or corrected, it is necessary if we want to reach our goal in life. If we want young souls to become great, we must rebuke them, and sharply too, before it is too late. It is satanic psychology that teaches that children should not be corrected or punished for wrong doing. Contrary to this lie, the wisdom of God tells us in Proverbs 13:24:

“He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.”

It is not a virtue but rather vain glorying to hear people say, “I don’t punish my child” or “My father never punished me.” The Lord said He would judge the house of Eli forever for the iniquity of his children, because he knew about it but did not punish them for it (1 Samuel 3:13). Some parents cannot even endure the pain of chastising their children, and so they allow them to develop into persons with evil character. Such parents need to understand that God, in His wisdom, says in Hebrews 12:11:

“Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.”

Today, in the so-called developed world, corporal punishment is outlawed to the peril of the young and upcoming generation. Modern child psychology has vehemently come up against corporal punishment. It is therefore not surprising that modern society is paying a high price for this in the form of character erosion. There is no psychologist anywhere in the world that can be more accurate in judgement than the Creator of mankind who owns all children (Psalm 127:3). Based on what He knows about children, He said in Proverbs 22:15:

“ Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.”

It is unfortunate that some people take this verse as a mere figurative statement. In any case, we can do nothing against the truth but for the truth (2 Corinthians 13:8). While I was growing up in my hometown, a rich parent arrested our teacher for flogging his child and this teacher vowed never to punish the children of the so-called rich among us again. Unfortunately, those children never amounted to anything good in life. Beloved, the child psychology that forbids chastening or rebuke gets its inspiration from the pit of hell. We must reject it in its entirety if we desire a glorious future for the next generation.
MEMORISE
Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul. Proverbs 29:17

READ: 1 Samuel 3:11-14

11 And the LORD said to Samuel, Behold, I will do a thing in Israel, at which both the ears of every one that heareth it shall tingle.

12 In that day I will perform against Eli all things which I have spoken concerning his house: when I begin, I will also make an end.

13 For I have told him that I will judge his house for ever for the iniquity which he knoweth; because his sons made themselves vile, and he restrained them not.

14 And therefore I have sworn unto the house of Eli, that the iniquity of Eli's house shall not be purged with sacrifice nor offering for ever.

ACTION POINT:
Pray that God will fill the hearts of parents, guardians and teachers with His fear and wisdom to influence the next generation into godliness.

Blockchain Proposed Solution Involves Smart Contract

Blockchains

Blockchain will now be use for electronic commerce transaction. Besides Blockchain, their proposed solution involves “smart contracts” and game theory.

Bhaskar Krishnamachari, Professor at Viterbi School of Engineering, University of Southern California, the US said that the blockchain scheme orders potentially a big improvement over the state-of-the-art in electronic commerce because it allows buyers and sellers to interact directly with each other without the need for third-party mediators of any kind,” said Bhaskar Krishnamachari, Professor at Viterbi School of Engineering, University of Southern California, the US.

“It uses a dual-deposit method, escrowing a safety deposit from both buyer and seller that is returned to them only when they behave honestly.

Blockchains allow multiple stakeholders to transact money or data virtually over linked peer-to-peer computer networks.

The system that allows buyers and sellers to interact directly can make e-commerce platform for digital goods “cheat proof” and the products cheaper, says a study by India-origin researchers.

The verification of who is at fault and who is honest is done automatically by the smart contract,” added Krishnamachari. This “smart contract” stores a good’s digital hash code or “digital fingerprint”.

FIRS will Commence Online VAT Payments

Chairman of the FIRS, Mr Babatunde Fowler, revealed that FIRS (Federal Inland Revenue Service) will soon commence the collection of Value Added Tax (VAT) through online portal. He stated this when he was interviewed from reliable source.

Mr Fowler said: “soon, we will ask banks to impose VAT on online transactions for purchases of goods and services. Not that it is something new; it actually should be in existence. We will certainly follow up to make sure that every VAT that is due to be collected is collected.”

He explained that the move was part of measures by FIRS to meet its N8 trillion revenue target for 2019.

Mr Fowler further said that the agency had started taking action against companies and businesses that refused to embrace the Federal Government’s tax amnesty programme.

According to him, FIRS hopes to generate between N750 billion and N1 trillion from the clampdown, which includes closure of defaulters’ bank accounts.

“We are going after everybody. I am sure you have heard that we have placed lien on some accounts of defaulters that have a billion naira turnover annually. So certainly, we are not leaving anyone out of the tax net,” he said.
