SLOWLY BUT SURELY

Almost everyone cheated in Mrs Young's algebra class. It was just so incredibly easy. The three classes ”brains” were generous with whispered answers on tests and would lend homework papers for copying. Mrs Young didn't seem to catch on, or else she ignored it, not knowing how to put a stop to it.

Robert didn't believe in cheating, though he plodded along, doing his own work, scoring Cs or C+s. That is why everybody was surprised when he got the best mathematics results of anybody in the school -even better than the brains -and was accepted for university.

“How did you do it , Robert?” asked one of the brains from algebra.

“I just knew the stuff” , Robert said with a smile. “ I learned it, slowly but surely. ”

Honesty carries its rewards today, just as it did in the ancient times. Psalm 112 talks about many of those rewards. Here comes the reward of honesty as it is written in Psalm 112:1-10

1
NIV:Praise the Lord. Blessed are those who fear the Lord, who find great delight in his commands.
2
NIV:Their children will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed.
3
NIV:Wealth and riches are in their houses, and their righteousness endures forever.
4
NIV:Even in darkness light dawns for the upright, for those who are gracious and compassionate and righteous.
5
NIV:Good will come to those who are generous and lend freely, who conduct their affairs with justice.
6
NIV:Surely the righteous will never be shaken; they will be remembered forever.
7
NIV:They will have no fear of bad news; their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord.
8
NIV:Their hearts are secure, they will have no fear; in the end they will look in triumph on their foes.
9
NIV:They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor, their righteousness endures forever; their horn will be lifted high in honor.
10
NIV:The wicked will see and be vexed, they will gnash their teeth and waste away; the longings of the wicked will come to nothing.
