Facebook Shareholders Back Proposal  to Remove Zuckerberg as Chairman
Several public funds that hold shares in Facebook Inc on Wednesday backed a proposal to remove Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg as chairman, saying the social media giant mishandled several high-profile scandals.

State treasurers from Illinois, Rhode Island and Pennsylvania, and New York City Comptroller Scott Stringer, co-filed the proposal. They joined hedge fund Trillium Asset Management, which bought it to the table in June.

The proposal, set to be voted on at Facebook’s annual shareholder meeting in May 2019, is asking the board to make the role of chair an independent position.

“Facebook plays an outsized role in our society and our economy. They have a social and financial responsibility to be transparent – that’s why we’re demanding independence and accountability in the company’s boardroom,” Stringer said. Facebook declined to comment.

Saudi Arabia  Transfers $100 Million  to U.S. Amid Crisis Over Khashoggi
The United States received a payment of $100 million from Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, the same day Secretary of State Mike Pompeo arrived in Riyadh to discuss the disappearance of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, a State Department official confirmed Wednesday amid global calls for answers in the case.

The timing of the transfer, first reported by the New York Times, raised questions about a potential payoff as Riyadh seeks to manage the blowback over allegations that Saudi agents were responsible for Khashoggi's disappearance.

Western diplomats suspect that the kingdom will also compensate Turkey for its willingness to launch a joint investigation on Khashoggi's disappearance - a payback that could come in the form of large-scale debt relief, strategic buyouts or other arrangements that boost Turkey's ailing economy.

Khashoggi's disappearance has hurt the reputation of Saudi Arabia's crown prince, Mohammed bin Salman, whose close relationship with President Trump's son-in-law and senior adviser, Jared Kushner, has put him at the center of the administration's Middle East policy.

When asked if he had learned any details about Khashoggi's disappearance, Pompeo told reporters that "I don't want to talk about any of the facts; they didn't want to, either, in that they want to have the opportunity to complete this investigation in a thorough way."

Preso Maada Bio's Six Months Versus Ernest Koroma's Six Months
In six months, HE Bio managed to provide partially free primary and secondary education, while Koroma also managed to provide partially free education by paying  public exams fees for NPSE, BECE, WASCE and free primary education. In six months, Bio partially increased salary for government workers (only grade 6) by 10% only, while EBK made 25% right across.

In six months' time, Bio spent much time enjoying electricity, while EBK laboured to restore electricity in the once darkest city in the world. In the same vain, in six months' time, Bio spent state coffers on 5 oversea trips, while EBK spent tax payers' money on just two trips.

Likewise, in six months' time, Bio completed zero kilometers of road, while EBK had started work on over a hundred kilometers of road.

In six months' time, Bio cannot mix, mingle and interact with the ordinary man in the streets of Freetown, while EBK by this time was rubbing shoulders with the common man every now and then without AA machine guns at his back, enjoying huge popularity with confidence.

In six months' time, demonstration was staged against Bio for bad governance style, while EBK was widely acclaimed by home citizens and diasporans alike. In six months' time, Bio spent state coffers on 5 oversea trips, while EBK spent tax payers' money on two trips only.

This is an indication that this so-called new direction is full of intellectual arrogance, 'brag brag' and big talk rather than actions. While people are suffering and looking for the big change they promised, all  their focus is fighting the APC and finding jobs for the hungry paopa caboodle. It's a pity for this country.
