[1] Valencia Close In on €50m Guedes Deal
Valencia are set to bolster their attack with two new faces, as Paris Saint-Germain winger Goncalo Guedes and Atletico Madrid forward Kevin Gameiro prepare to move to Mestalla.

Valencia and PSG are now in negotiations over the details of a transfer that is expected to reach a total of €50 million (£45m/$57m).

One possibility is an immediate transfer which includes 15-20 per cent of any future deal, while Guedes could also spend another year on loan at the Liga club before penning an identical deal.

Gameiro, too, is set to swap Madrid for Valencia after Los Che confirmed they had reached a preliminary agreement for the French striker.

While the club declined to reveal the fee agreed with Atletico, reports suggest Gameiro will move for an initial €16m (£14m/$18m) with a further €2m payable later in performance-related bonuses.

[2] Rooney's Stoppage-Time Heroics Hand DC United Win
Former Manchester United and England captain Wayne Rooney produced a moment of magic in the 96th minute to stop Orlando City and lift D.C. United to a dramatic 3-2 victory in MLS.

Orlando looked set to snatch all three points at Audi Field in Washington on Sunday, when United goalkeeper David Ousted pushed forward for a corner and vacated an empty net.

Will Johnson broke free on the counter and had the goal at his mercy, looking to break the deadlock and hand the Lions a much-needed win. But Rooney was the man of the moment.

The 32-year-old chased back at top speed and won a last-ditch tackle just inside his own half line to prevent a certain winner. Even that wasn't enough for Rooney.

His sliding challenge triggered an unbelievable sequence as Man United and England's all-time leading scorer then got to his feet and raced forward before playing a stunning long ball to Luciano Acosta, who rose highest to complete his hat trick in the sixth minute of stoppage time.

[3] ‬Barca's Bartomeu Leaves Door Open to Pogba Signing
Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu refused to discuss links with Manchester United star Paul Pogba, though he did leave the door open to a possible move before the transfer window shuts.

La Liga champions Barca have emerged as strong suitors for France midfielder Pogba amid uncertainty over the World Cup winner's future at Old Trafford.

Pogba – who wore the captain's armband and scored in United's Premier League season-opening 2-1 victory over Leicester City – has endured a strained relationship with manager Jose Mourinho and the Frenchman raised further doubts over his time in Manchester when he claimed he would be fined if he said what he wanted to following Friday's clash.

Asked about Pogba following Barca's 2-1 win against Sevilla in Sunday's Supercopa de Espana, Bartomeu said: "I won't speak of any names, we have respect for all clubs and there are 20 days left.

"We'll see which players come out. We're focused on the League, so it's best to ask [Eric] Abidal, [Ramon] Planes or Pep Segura about players. There's still time to do business."

Barca have been busy in the transfer market, signing Malcom, Arthur, Clement Lenglet and Arturo Vidal.

[4] Messi Sets New Barca Trophy Record
Lionel Messi became the most successful player in Barcelona in history on Sunday as he helped the Catalans to a thrilling Supercopa victory over Sevilla.

The Argentine took the field for the first time since the World Cup to lead Barcelona in the traditional curtain-raiser, played overseas for the first time in Tangier, Tunisia.

As Andres Iniesta's successor as Blaugrana captain, it fell on Messi to lift the Supercopa trophy, a landmark achievement for the amazing Argentine.

That win means Messi has now lifted 33 titles during his Barcelona career, more than any other player in the club's history.

That haul includes four Champions League wins, nine La Liga crowns and six Copas del Rey, as well as a record five Ballons d'Or.

[5] Deadly Dembele Hands Barca SuperCopa
Ousmane Dembele fired a spectacular winner to seal a 2-1 Supercopa de Espana triumph for Barcelona over Sevilla as Marc-Andre ter Stegen saved a last-gasp penalty in Tangier.

Sevilla president Jose Castro voiced objections over the Spanish season's curtain-raiser being taken away from its traditional two-legged format to be played in Morocco but Pablo Machin's side started the brighter.

Pablo Sarabia followed his three goals in the Europa League preliminary stages with a ninth-minute opener that was cancelled out by Gerard Pique three minutes from half-time.

Dembele put the injury misery that ruined his debut season in Catalonia behind him by blasting in a rasping right-footed strike via the crossbar, although there was a final twist

Ter Stegen brought down ex-Barca full-back Aleix Vidal, only to atone for his clumsiness by holding a tame spot-kick from Sevilla substitute Wissam Ben Yedder.

[6] Allardyce Slams Emery's 'Stupid' Tactics vs Man City
Unai Emery is attempting to implement a "stupid" style of play at Arsenal, according to Sam Allardyce.

The Gunners slipped to a 2-0 defeat to Manchester City in their opening league game on Sunday and throughout the match Emery's side surrendered possession while looking to play out from the back.

Petr Cech came close to scoring an own goal when attempting to play a ball across his own penalty area to Shkodran Mustafi, and Allardyce believes the blame lies with Emery.

"It is the manager's fault," the former England boss told talkSPORT, when asked about Cech's performance.

"Don't ask somebody to do against Man City what you shouldn't do. You shouldn't play out like that against Manchester City.

"Even the Arsenal crowd cheered when he [Cech] dropped one in the opposition's half.

"We are getting obsessed with this stupid 'let's play out from the back, split the centre halves either side of the 18-yard box and go and play from there'… it's utter rubbish to play like that all of the time."
[7] Cech Left Furious By Leverkusen's Leno Jibe
Petr Cech turned his rage on Bayer Leverkusen's Twitter account after the Geman club jokingly suggested Bernd Leno might fare better in the Arsenal net.

During Arsenal's opening game of the season against Manchester City, Cech received possession with City in hot pursuit, and sliced the ball behind his own goal in panicked fashion.

"We might know a guy..." Leverkusen's English Twitter account replied to a video of the gaffe, and proceeded to share a goal scored by the Bundesliga club that was started by Leno in his own area.

Cech failed to find the funny side and irked by the jibe he let loose with his own Twitter response.

"At Arsenal we share important values which make us a big club not only on the football side," the keeper explained, in a post that mentioned Leverkusen at the end. Fair competition, professionalism and sportsmanship are the biggest ones you teach young footballers and it’s sad to see when other clubs don’t share the same values, " wrote the keeper.

Leverkusen immediately backed off and stated that their tweet was "just a bit of banter" while also apologising to the goalkeeper.

[8] Liverpool Contact Police Over Viral Video of Mohamed Salah
Liverpool have alerted the Merseyside Police about a viral video of Mohamed Salah using his mobile phone while driving.

In a footage circulating Twitter - presumed to be taken after the striker had led his team to a 4-0 victory over West Ham United on Sunday afternoon - the Egypt international was filmed using his phone behind the wheel in traffic.

However, Liverpool, via a spokesperson, said that they have made the police aware of the situation; one believed to have prompted their tweet.

The club will not make further comment on the matter as they would deal with the issue 'internally.'

[9] Qatar SC Sign Former Barcelona Striker Eto'o
Samuel Eto'o will continue his illustrious career at Qatar SC after moving to the Qatari outfit on a free transfer.

The 37-year-old striker is on the move to his 13th club having been released by Turkish Super Lig side Konyaspor at the end of the last season.

On Monday evening, the Doha-based outfit announced the signature of the former Barcelona and Chelsea marksman, who is set to be unveiled on Tuesday.

The Qatar Stars League is two weeks into the 2018-19 season and the Kings are placed fifth after taking three points from their opening two games.

10] Contenders for UEFA Goal of the Season
Inexplicably, Gareth Bale's spectacular goal against Liverpool in the finals of the Champions League didn't find a place in the list of nominations for the goal of the season. However, CR7's overhead kick that earned him an ovation even from the opposition fans made it to the list. Possible UEFA rule - only one rapid winger's overhead kick from one team!!

The list contains other delectable and audacious efforts like Embleton's at the U-19 level, Lucy Bronze's volley against City and Cristian Eriksson's crossbar smasher for Denmark.

Ele é o segundo maior artilheiro do time nacional, atrás apenas de Davor Suker.

"Eu sempre gostei de falar no campo e não fora dele. Portanto, essas palavras são um pouco mais difíceis do que enfrentar um adversário ou correr por 120 minutos. Mais difícil porque sei quanta felicidade me traz todas as convocações, jogos e vitórias. Mais difícil porque sei que honra é vestir a camisa croata e representar o país. Mais difícil porque eu sei que este é finalmente o fim dessas palavras. E, no entanto, sei que é hora certa para essas palavras", disse Mandzukic.
