READ: Luke 10:38-42

MEMORISE: But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her. (Luke. 10:42)

To be busy for and to be busy with somebody are two different prepositional phrase that face different directions. To be busy for somebody is to be doing something on behalf of that person, either knowingly or unknowingly to the person. To be busy with somebody is to be doing something together with the person, very closely. To be busy for for somebody is good if you only do what is required of you. But to be busy with somebody is far better, since you will be with the person in question face to face, for proper guiding.

For us as disciples of Jesus, we are expected to be busy with the Master than to be only busy for Him. Our biblical example is the incident that happened between the two sisters (Martha and Mary) and our Lord Jesus. When the Lord visited them at home, as His usual tradition to this family, Martha went straight away to the kitchen preparing food for Christ to eat. But the Bible says about her sister, Mary:..who also sat at Jesus' feet and heard His word (v. 39). While Martha was anxious for Jesus on how to entertain Him, Mary, on her own, sat herself down at Jesus' feet being fed with spiritual food the eternal Word of God.

Humanly speaking, what Martha was doing is good, but Jesus did not accept it. In fact, Jesus wanted the two of them to sit with Him, for them to be fed with spiritual food that can sustain their lives for life. Mark. 3:14 summarily gives the reason why Jesus appointed His twelve apostles: Then He appointed twelve, that they might be with Him and that He might send them out to preach.

Our calling into intimacy with Christ comes before our calling to preach about Him and do those things He has ordained for us to.    Him. No matter what you are doing for Jesus, if you don't find enough time to be with Him to study under His feet,  your services is not acceptable.

1.  Give me, oh Lord, the heart of a learner, in Jesus' name.
2.  Lord, help me to keep my daily appointment with you, privately and corporately.
3.  We commit all our church workers unto You, oh God, give them the enabling power to keep being busy with Christ as we serve in the vineyard.
