READ: 1 Thessalonians 4:1-7

1:Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.
2:For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus.
3:For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:
4:That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;
5:Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God:
6:That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified.
7:For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.

MEMORISE: For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality; that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honour. (1 Thessalonians 4:3,4)

Whenever people are admonished on the need of live chastely, so many people would rather pick offence than make efforts to make amends where necessary, and meet up with God's holy standard. Some young people would consider their instructors or those trying to correct them as uncivilised people, trying to stop them from catching fun of life. They may also see them as trying to stop them from exercising their freedom maximally. Such youths soon realise they had made the worst of mistakes, when the repercussions of their actions or nemesis catch up with them.

A young woman ended up terminating about five pregnancies for different lovers. 'Terrible,' you would say. When she finally settled with the man she called her husband, she could not conceive. She was sent packing, when the unsuspecting man finally knew through a gynaecologist that the womb of his wife was already badly damaged, as a result of serial abortions.

To some people, chastity, especially when it relates to sex, is old-fashioned. We live in an era where nudity and sex have become objects of public worship. No thanks to the media,  both print and electronic. Check the lives and activities of these so called 'celebrities' artistes, sportsmen/women, etc.; you would see nothing but flagrant propagation of the goddess and doctrine of sexual immorality with impunity.

The scripture is clear on the need to be holy as God is (1 Pet. 1:15,16). All the commandments of God that we keep are for our own benefits (1 Cor. 6:18). A sexual pervert who contacts terminal STDs has no one other than himself/herself to blame. Such a person would be the one to suffer, not God.

God saw that as a virgin, Mary was available to be used,  and He used her to His glory,  and her memory lingers till eternity. If Esther had defiled herself, would she have been able to come out, when she was eventually needed in  the palace? Those are some of the benefits of being chaste. Desist from acts that can endanger your future. The immorality end up in hell (Rev. 21:8).

1.  Lord, deliver me from every corrupt tendency latent and evident in me.
2.  I refuse to use my body in any form that glorifies the devil; Holy Spirit, take over every part of me for Your glory alone.
3.  Lord, set believers free from the menace of illicit sexual practices.
