JESUS HAS POWER OVER DEMONS

Methodist lectionary for Sunday January 28,2018 (4th Sunday after Epiphany)

READINGS; Deuteronomy 18:15-20, 1 Cor 8:1-13, Mark 1:21-28, Psalm 111

 Liturgical color: GREEN

Theme: JESUS HAS POWER OVER DEMONS

 My sermon hymn: MHB 99

 My key verse: Mark 1:24
Ok. So, after John the baptist proclaimed Jesus in the wilderness, after a Voice from Heaven proclaimed Jesus at His baptism, now another person,  a demons - possessed person proclaims Jesus. This comes on the Heels of Jesus receiving spiritual power by the Holy Spirit in His 40 - day fast & defeating Satan

Mark brings up this diabolical issue at the onset of Jesus' ministry to show that Jesus would face stiff opposition from all quarters, but will prevail . The same power Jesus used to calm the raging sea, heal the sick, raised the dead, is the same He used to exorcise this demon.

JESUS' POWER IS NOT LIMITED BY ANY SPIRITUAL, PHYSICAL OR METAPHYSICAL OPPOSITION

The unnamed young man represents the problems mankind face day in & out. But no matter the problems of mankind, Jesus is able to meet our every expectations. Demons are a troubling nuisance. They frustrate believers in all fronts of life

TODAY, JESUS IS COMMANDING EVERY DEMON IN OUR LIVES TO GET OUT & SET US FREE

We need to be free of all ills - whether spiritual or physical. That's how we can have a sound mind to be in right standing with God. May we be free of all demonic manipulations.
